I'm running QuickBooks Pro 2013 on an ancient laptop. We have recently purchased a server for use in our accounting office. I would like to purchase a new version of QuickBooks and use it in conjunction with the server so that each of the three employees in our office has access to QuickBooks. What version do I need to buy? Do I have to buy separate copies for each employee? What else do I need to know?
Prior to purchase the new license of 2019 (Pro for 3 users, or Premier for 3 users, or Premier for 5 users), you should install the trial license of 2019 and open your current file (or a dummy file) on it. I am not sure you may convert it directly from 2013. You may need to convert it on 2016 or 2017 as a stepping stone. Otherwise, you may consider to purchase a conversion service.
