Damaged licensing data or a firewall that's not properly configured may cause the Sync license data online error when opening QuickBooks Desktop.
Solution 1: Rename the EntitlementDataStore.ecml file
Note: The Entitlement Client folder is hidden. You may need to Display hidden files and folders or search for files using Windows before performing these steps.
- On your keyboard, press Windows+R to open the Run command.
- Copy and paste the path C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8, then press Enter.
- Right-click on the EntitlementDataStore.ecml file, then select Rename.
- Rename the file to EntitlementDataStore.ecml.OLD.
Solution 2: Configure Firewall settings
If the issue persists, configure firewall applications for QuickBooks Desktop.
