Sort the customer list by last name in QuickBooks
by Intuit•1• Updated 3 weeks ago
In QuickBooks, you can manually re-sort the customer list by last name first.
Note: This article is for customers using QuickBooks Online (Advanced, Essentials, Plus, and Simple Start) and QuickBooks Sole Trader.
Note: If a customer is a sub-customer, the sub-customer is sorted within the parent customer. The sub-customers feature is only available in QuickBooks Online version. |
To make your customer names show as last name first, you need to edit each customer one at a time:
- Go to Sales, then select Customers (Take me there).
Note: If you are using QuickBooks Sole Trader, go to Customers and goals and select Customers. - Select the customer's name then Edit.
- Change the Customer display name field so it shows the last name first. If there’s no option to change in the Customer display name dropdown, enter the First name and Last name in the appropriate fields then select the dropdown again.
- Select Save.
Now you're able to sort the customer list by last name first.
