Add a new relationship

Learn how to add a new customer and vendor relationship in QuickBooks Commerce.

There are two types of relationships in QuickBooks Commerce, customers and vendors. Both of them are important so you can easily ring up sales or purchase stocks. Use the following steps to start adding relationships.

Note: If you have saved all your customers' and vendors' info in a spreadsheet, you can use the .CSV file to import relationships in bulk to QuickBooks Commerce.

Add a new customer relationship

Customers represent the people or companies who buy from you. Add consumers or business customers so you can easily ring up a sale and keep track of customer trends.

  1. Go to the Relationships page.
  2. Select Create new dropdown, then New Customer.
  3. Fill out all the required details and enter as much information as possible. This is to make it easier to contact and reference the relationship in the future.
Note: In the Customer type field, you can select either business customer or consumer. Business customers represent wholesale customers, they are usually companies that operate their own businesses.
  4. Set the default settings for this customer.
  5. Enter their address details.
  6. Select Create to save your customer's info.

Add a new vendor relationship

Vendors represent the ones you purchase from. Add them in QuickBooks so you can easily order from them whenever you need to.

  1. Go to the Relationships page.
  2. Select Create new dropdown, then New Vendor.
  3. Fill out all the required details and enter as much information as possible. This is to make it easier to contact and reference the relationship in the future.
  4. Set the default settings for this vendor.
  5. Enter their address details.
  6. Select Create to save your vendor’s info.
