Track and manage timesheets in QuickBooks Online

Track and manage timesheets using the Time tab in QuickBooks Online Plus, QuickBooks Online Advanced, and QuickBooks Online Essentials.

Note: If you also have a QuickBooks Time account, you'll have the Time tab with the extra QuickBooks Time functionality.

View time

  1. Select Time to open Time Entries.
  2. Choose Customer, Worker, or Contractor from the dropdown.
  3. Adjust the displayed date range if necessary.
  4. Select an individual customer, worker, or contractor to see the timesheet details.
  5. Customize what columns you see on the timesheets by selecting the gear icon under Total Hours.

Add time

  1. Select Time to open Time Entries.
  2. Select Add Time, then choose a worker.
  3. Adjust the date range if necessary and select a day.
  4. Add the duration of hours worked, or switch Start/end times on to enter a start time and end time for that day.
  5. Select Add work details to add a customer or project, make the timesheet billable, and any other applicable options.
  6. Select Add to add more timesheets for that worker.
  7. Select Save or Save and Close.

Edit time

  1. Select Time to open Time Entries.
  2. In the dropdown, choose Customer, Worker, or Contractor, and adjust the date range if necessary.
  3. Select an individual customer, worker, or contractor to open the applicable timesheets.
  4. Select Edit next to any timesheet.
  5. Make your edits and select Save.
