2014 QuickBooks Pro printing error message

My 2014 QuickBooks Pro for Windows 8.1 64 Bit computer is not printing. I am getting an error message.

Error Message: "There is a problem connecting to your currently selected printer. 'HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 PCL-3 on 192.168.1.6_1', you may need to change the port assignment from windows printer settings or reinstall the printer driver software."

There is no QBPrint.QBP file in my QuickBooks folder.

This happen after a power outage when quickbooks was still open. How can I repair QuickBooks program without reinstalling it?

Thank you for your reply.  I got the problem solved by following the suggestion from the online chat to uninstall the latest windows update. After doing this, a new update was installed. The printer function in QuickBooks now is working as it should.

Thank you for reaching out to us here, Brucestafo.

It's possible that the file for QBPrint.QBP is hidden in your folder. You can select the folder options and make sure to select Show hidden files. Once you see the file, delete it and then try printing a transaction in QuickBooks.

If the file is missing, I've got another step that we can try. Let's run the Print & PDF Repair Tool to fix this.

We'll need to download the QuickBooks Tools Hub file first. Then, save it on a folder where you can easily find it

After the installation, you can follow these steps to run the repair:

  1. In the QuickBooks Tools Hub, select Program Problems.
  2. Select QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. It will take about a minute to run.

Once done, try printing a transaction from QuickBooks Desktop. If you're getting the same error, you can follow the other solutions in this article: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.
