Accountant's Copy Problem

When my client sends me their accountant's copy I can download it fine but when I go to make any changes it acts like it is saving but then gives me an error message and kicks me out of QuickBooks.  We have both updated our QuickBooks, restarted our computers, even tried it on a different computer in my office and get the same results.  How do I fix this?

Accountant's Copy Problem

I can provide an update about the issue, TinaME.

I've checked and found out the investigation about the error while working on the accountant's copy has been resolved. The solution provided by our Product Team is to make sure that both the client and accountant's QuickBooks are installed with the latest release.

Here's how to update QuickBooks:

  1. Click Help
  2. Select Product Name, then click Update Now.

You can also download specific updates directly from our website. Before doing so, you need to backup your company file.

  1. Go to the Downloads & Updates page.
  2. From the Select Country drop-down, choose your country.
  3. From the Select Product drop-down, choose your product.
  4. From the Select Version drop-down, choose your version (year).
  5. Select Search.
  6. Click Get updates. Save the downloaded file somewhere that's easy to find, like your Windows desktop.

When the download finishes, open the file to install the update. After the install, restart your computer. Then, open the newest download QuickBooks and restore the file from there.

Once all set, your client can create an Accountant's copy again and send it so you can make changes to their books.

If you're still receiving the same error, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Team. They can isolate why you're still getting the issue.
