Add Jobs to Customers

I've just moved over to QB Online Simple Start and I'm trying to find my way around.  In Quickbooks Desktop, you could create jobs under a parent company.  It appears that the only way to do this Quickbooks Online is to create sub-customer under the parent customer.  It doesn't appear the "add job" option is available in the Online Version.

Add Jobs to Customers

Adding jobs to a customer in QuickBooks Online would be a great functionality, RyanC3PO. I'm here to share some insights.

As of now, this feature isn't available in the online version. I'd recommend sending a feature request directly to our Product Development team. This helps us improve your experience and the features of the program.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear menu and then select Feedback.
  2. Type in your feature request in the description box.
  3. Once done, click on Next.

You also can track the feature requests through the Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online website.

In the meantime, you can use the Project feature in QuickBooks Online. This helps you track the moving parts of the jobs. However, this is only available in Plus, Advanced, and Accountant. If you'd like to use this feature, you may consider upgrading.

Additionally, I've included these resources that'll help you learn more about the customer workflow in QuickBooks Online. By browsing these articles, you can keep your books accurate:

I'm only a post away if you need more help in managing your customers in QuickBooks, RyanC3PO. It's always my pleasure to help you out again.

Add Jobs to Customers

Unbelievable.  I'll add this to my list of basic features Quickbooks is taking away from Small Business after forcing us to move from Desktop to Online.  Really disappointing Quickbooks.

Note to other small businesses needing to be able to track jobs under customers.   This is still available on Desktop Pro and Desktop Pro can still be purchased.  It's hard to find on the website but it is still available.

I too cannot believe QB online has not added this function.  I just recently signed up for the online version a second time; last time I tried online a couple years ago the function was not there, which is why I left it and went back to desktop.  Here I am a few years later trying QB online again and such a basic function still has not been added.  I did manage to "trick" the online version a couple years ago to create jobs under existing customers, but I can't seem to figure out now how I did it then.  Again, this is such a basic function that needs to be added...QB, get to it, please!  This will probably make me go back to the desktop version again (I'm currently on 2019, but guess I'll have to upgrade to 2022), though $550 a year as a subscription is tough to stomach for a small business.

Add Jobs to Customers

This is just one reason why I hate Quickbooks. I hate that we were forced to move to QB online if we have payroll. The desktop versions are WAY more user friendly. It is very basic to NEED to enter individual jobs under a customer. I can't even figure out how to process my invoices now because there is no option to add jobs. Way to go Quickbooks! If there was any other option available, I would leave QB in a heartbeat.

PLEASE ADD A FUNCTION FOR ADDING JOBS TO CUSTOMERS as soon as possible!
