After I have set up the business, do I import all the bank and credit card accounts?

I appreciate your time in visiting the Community, Citrus54.

If you're unable to connect these local accounts to Online Banking in your QuickBooks Online, then yes, you can import the data. Let me share the steps to help you out.

First, get the transactions from your bank by following these steps:

  1. Sign in to your bank or credit card's website.
  2. Follow your bank's instructions for how to download CSV files of your transactions to your computer. Every financial institution has different steps.
  3. Make sure the date range for the download is at least one day before your oldest transaction.
  4. Download your transactions. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it, like your computer's desktop.

Tip: Your bank may offer a few file formats. If possible, pick the QuickBooks Online data (QBO) format. These are formatted specifically for QuickBooks Online. You can also upload transactions from a CSV file.

Next, please make sure to review the file format and size from your bank. Make sure it's in the correct format before you upload it.

Keep in mind, the maximum file size is 350 KB. If the file is too big, shorten the date range and download transactions in smaller batches.

Finally, upload the transactions by following these steps:

  1. In QuickBooks Online, go to the Transactions Banking, then select Upload transactions.
  2. Select Drag and drop or select files and then select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then click Continue.
  3. In the QuickBooks account drop-down, select the account you want to upload the transactions into. Then press Continue.
  4. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then hit Continue.
  5. Choose the transactions you would like to import. Then hit Continue.
  6. Click Yes. When you accept your transactions, hit Done.

For reference, you can check out this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

To help categorize or match your imported transactions, please feel free to read this article: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If you're planning to connect an account to Online Banking in the future, you can watch a video tutorial in this link: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if you have more questions regarding the steps I've shared above or need help with other task. I'll be right here to help you out. Take care and stay safe.

@Citrus54

Another option, utilize MT Online. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed.
