Any chance the QB Online version will ever live up to the QB Pro Plus destop version?

Hi there, mct54. QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Pro Plus Desktop (QBDT) serve different purposes. QBO is great for accessibility, automation, and collaboration, while QBDT offers advanced features such as custom reporting and inventory management for more complex workflows.

QBO also works seamlessly across multiple devices, allowing you to access anytime and anywhere. On the other hand, QBDT is specifically tailored for desktop use.

If you have follow-up questions, feel free to reply below.

@mct54

Why don't you switching back to QB Desktop?

Don't expect them to upgrade QB Online to be on par with QB Desktop. I think they've decided that Intuit Enterprise Suite is their way to improve QB Online Advanced.

I like your enthusiasm, but listen to my real world take on this new Online. I was pretty much forced into it without any good alternatives. I started using QBs about 21 years ago. Eventually getting to QBs Pro. Then we went to subscriptions and they pretty much price me out of desktop, I believe by design. Also, I was told if you cancel desktop you cannot go back. The only reason I went with online is, I can pay monthly, as well as OBs encryption for migration issues. I am my business just me no i.t. people and just a handful of customers. My pricing went from a few hundred dollars to over 1000 dollars. They would NOT allow monthly payments for Desktop but would if I changed to Online. I am self taught in everything related to office work computers, typing, book keeping etc. This change is not voluntary its forced and that leads to people getting a little irritable at times.So far I have been successful trying to find and learn all the things they changed. Latter being, the most frustrating. So the change from Desktop to Online is not intuitive from a company named Ituit. A little ironic maybe.I can tell you this much in positive note this migration was much better than when I tried before. Well that is what happen to me as a loyal QUICKBOOKS customer.

You can go back if you are interested.

There is a way you can pay by quarter.

So how long would I have to make that decision? It would be about $325 a quarter, I think I could mange that.  How would I proceed? Thanks.

P.S. I asked every question I could on 2 or 3 phone calls since 01/26 now one ever told me any options on keeping Desktop Pro Plus. They were definitely steering me toward Oline.

Hello, mct54.

Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding QuickBooks Online and transitioning away from QuickBooks Desktop Pro. I’d like to provide some clarification on your query and address your situation.

As of now, QuickBooks Desktop Pro has been discontinued and is no longer available for new users. This change was part of Intuit's strategic focus on moving towards more cloud-based solutions such as QuickBooks Online, which provides greater accessibility, automatic updates, and seamless integrations with third-party applications.

Since you've already transitioned to QuickBooks Online and canceled your previous Desktop Pro subscription, please note that it is no longer available for purchase. However, if you prefer a desktop solution, QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is available with advanced features, though only through annual subscription plans.

Feel free to return if you have follow-up questions.

@mct54

Log in to CAMPS and check your last license status. Are you still allowed to resubscribe, or does it show discontinued?

Any chance the QB Online version will ever live up to the QB Pro Plus destop version?

I am going to struggle through the new online version. I was told I could only  renew the desktop version and would have to pay about 1200.00 per year and they said I could pay for online monthly. So that is the only reason I changed.Essentially they priced me out of desktop. I am thinking that was by design. My first hint was when Oracle started advertising in instagram "switch to Oracle why overpay for Quickbooks. That was the year the price for QB desktop doubled I think. So I will use QBO until someone offers some less expensive and is computer based. I understand that BIG companies might need this I absolutely DO NOT!! I am a Very small business. This has be awful for me personally because I am alone and like I said self taught. I just shows everyone how much companies care about their loyal customers. I will succeed in spite of this, Its just a shame they took a perfectly good program like QB Pro Plus and made it go away. Very disappointed.

I don't know what CAMPS is, also I can't afford the yearly renewal for QB pro plus. I only have QBO because I can pay monthly. Thanks for helping though, I appreciate it.

And so discontinuation Desktop would be a stupid idea, right?

Seems like the decision to discontinue was made long before we knew about it. Small frys like me always get the short end, so nothing new there. I liked QB Pro Plus still think it was way better for me. But I am priced out so I want to be able to learn this version. But I will be looking for a computer based small business option and when I find one I will be gone.

They haven't discontinued QB Desktop yet. What's your budget?

Right now I am paying double of what I should be paying. About $100 a month. More than double of what I should be paying for the size of my business it should be maybe $20 a month realistically. I started with a computer based program that was at the most $200 for the program. Not yearly! My program on my computer. When upgrades came out you bought them. My business is SMALL I do everything now that my wife has passed. I am actively looking for some inexpensive program I can install that is just easy. Buy, Sell, run numbers and keep my customer and vendor accounts. the minute I find it, install it and get is working I am gone. I do not want to leave, but like I said before they have forced this on me, by pricing me out. Also having to struggle to make ONLINE work as well as PRO PLUS. I only use about maybe 15% of what this program is capable of, Don't need the complications or an I.T. department. Just basic accounting for buying and selling and keeping records.
