Are company files independent from Intuit Account?

Are company files associated with only one Intuit account?  If not, how can I add an existing company file that is on my computer which I received from another user to my Intuit account.  If so, what is the best way to move a company file from one intuit account to another?

Are company files independent from Intuit Account?

Hello, JeffG2.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. An Intuit account is the account you use to access any of Intuit’s current and future products. An Intuit account ensures the following:

  1. An extra layer of security and protection.
  2. Access to edit and modify your information through a single account (same UserID and password) for every Intuit product you choose to use.
  3. Access to added features and benefits for Payroll, Payments, Time tracking and more, which may require an extra layer of security.

Linking your existing or creating your Intuit account is easy.

  1. Open your company file and log in with your file Admin credentials
  2. Follow the prompt to use/create an Intuit account (email address/username and password).

Note that these credentials can be different from the company file log in.
