Attachments in QB for Mac 2019

I know how to attach a file to a transaction.  For example, I know how to attach a scanned receipt to a credit card transaction.  BUT, is there at way to see that a transaction has an attachment associated with it?  I can't figure this out.  When I am scrolling through the credit card transactions it is not clear to me which have attachments and which don't.

Thanks for getting back to us, @Elphygirl.

You'll need to click the Attachment icon to see the attached file on the transaction. But let me clarify a few things here.

Are you referring to the Eye icon on the invoice itself? If so, you'll not be able to see the attached file from there. That icon will just show you the breakdown of the transaction.

But if you're referring to the Eye icon on the Attachment window, you'll be able to view the attached file in detailed.

Right - the attachments icon changes state (it has a square white rectangle "clipped" to it if there is an attachment).   We don't show attachments in register windows and the like if that's what you want - its unclear to me which window you are looking at.

You can also see and search all the attachments in the Company->Attachment Manager menu.

Hey there, @Elphygirl.

Currently, there isn't a way to identify the transactions that have attachments from your list of credit card transactions.

In QuickBooks, you'll need to open your transaction one at a time to know which ones have attachments.

Don't worry, I'll be taking note of this and let our engineers know that this is beneficial to your business.

You can also visit our QuickBooks Blog to get the latest news about updates and feature releases.

Always know that you can post again here in the Community if you have any other concerns. I'll be sure to get back to you.

Thank you.  Am I missing a way to see it in the individual transaction without clicking the "eye" to check?

Related issue - I thought it would be easier to jump in here - regarding setting an attachment to print/email with the transaction. I never get a chance to check the box (as it says in #7 below).

Re: Attachments in QB for Mac 2019

Thanks for joining this thread, @LCF.

I appreciate you providing a screenshot for me to get a better picture of your concern.

The seventh step refers to the Print, E-mail, and Eye buttons at the upper left of the transaction screen. It's an optional step you can perform when creating an attachment in the program. Please see the screenshot below for your reference.

Re: Attachments in QB for Mac 2019

Thanks @RaymondJayO , but for some reason I don't have those buttons available on the upper left. Even when I try to customize the toolbar, they are not provided as an option. They are present in the attach window, but when I click on the printer all it does is print the attachment. There is no dialogue box or anything giving me the option to print the attachment with the transaction/invoice. It's weird; I know I did it once before, but now I can't seem to access it again anywhere....

Re: Attachments in QB for Mac 2019

Thanks for getting back to us, LCF.

You'll have the PrintE-mail, and Eye buttons at the upper left if you're opening an invoice. I can see that you've opened a bill on the screenshot you've provided. In that case, these buttons you're looking for are available in the Attach section.

Know that printing a bill with an attachment is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. Our engineers are working continuously to improve the product to meet your needs. I'll send this suggestion directly to them.

For now, I encourage to stay current on all the QuickBooks news and announcements by visiting our blogs. Here are the links for your reference:

I'll also update you once this feature becomes available.

As always, you can check out our QuickBooks for Mac 2019 User's Guide to learn some various tasks within the program.

Please let me know if you have further questions. I'm always happy to step in and lend a hand. Have a great day.

Re: Attachments in QB for Mac 2019

Thank you; okay - just noticed that yes indeed the checkboxes are available for attachments to invoices, and that is where I saw it.... but apparently we cannot set attachments to print automatically with bills..... so that answers my question. Thank you -
