How do I create Auto Purchase order from inventory stock status?

I am trying to create Auto Purchase orders for my inventory items.

Once I go to

Reports>Inventory>Stock Status by Vendor>Create Auto PO's.

I have been doing it this way for years but now when I select the items to order and hit the create PO's button it just spins once and nothing. Has anyone else had this happen to them it will no longer order products automatically.

I called customer support and they just told me they don't know I will have to just live with it. Like I said it was working fine the only thing that has changed since is a QuickBooks update. Any ideas how to fix this?

Just FYI I have already run the Verify and then Rebuild Data functions and still nothing.

Hello there, @armylife94.

I'd be glad to help create purchase orders on your inventory automatically. We haven't received reported issues about creating purchase orders. To single out the cause of this unexpected behavior, you may need to repair QuickBooks. This helps fix program-related issues or errors.

For the detailed steps, you may check this article: Repair QuickBooks Desktop.

If the same thing happens, you may need to do the clean installation.

How do I create Auto Purchase order from inventory stock status?

We are having a similiar issue as another user. We have always used Auto PO and it orders up to our max inventory for that part not taking into account what we have on sales orders (because they are not considered open inventory), it is now only ordering to the minimum not the maximum. This has just changed very recently and must be a QBs issue. We have also recently had a problem with with part #s not transferring from a sales order to an invoice. The dollars are there and so is the description but not the part number (they just disappear). Both are very recent issues and do not seem to be related to a rebuild issue. Is anyone else having these issues and is there a fix?

Welcome to the Community, @JillVB. I appreciate you for sharing your concerns in this thread.

This issue can happen when the value entered in the Reorder Point field of an item is zero. This means you'll need to restock a minimum quantity on one item at any given time.

To fix this, let's remove the value and just leave it blank by following these steps:

  1. Go to the List menu, then select Item List.
  2. Double-click on the inventory item to open the details.
  3. Remove the zero value from the Reorder Point (Min) field in the Inventory Information section, then click OK.

Then, run the Inventory Stock Status by Item report to see the Reorder Qty column that have the zero value.

For future reference, read through this article: Use the purchase order management worksheet. It helps you in identifying what purchase order is being received, and keeps track of your purchase orders by site, status, or vendor.
