Back up files

Desktop 2018. I set my back up limit to 3 copies. Check the screenshot: that folder has 5.

Why isn't the program deleting the extra/old back ups? I don't want to do this manually.

Back up files

Glad to see you here in the Community, @Lynn37.

The system does not delete saved files, so you can still access them in future needs. Once the backed up files are removed, you can no longer recover them.

You’ll have to delete them manually. However, you’ll need to make sure Intuit Data Protect is up to date. Then you can follow these steps below:

  1. Right-click the Data Protect icon at the bottom right of the screen.
  2. Press Ctrl + R.
  3. Select Delete after the computation of the size.
  4. Click Yes to confirm and then hit Ok to finish.

You can read this article for additional information about the process: Free up space in Intuit Data Protect.

You might want to check this link on how to keep your software up-to-date. It offers plenty of benefits such as enhanced features, better compatibility with different applications. Also, improve stability and fixes.

Don’t hesitate to leave a message if you have other questions with QuickBooks. I’ll be here to answer them for you. Keep safe.

Back up files

Uhhhh -- not sure what to say here. I think you may have misunderstood my question.

I am using QB Desktop and doing a local back up to a detachable drive.
