backup rebuild error

System backup does not work due to two 111 errors.

Both appear to be payroll related but one is back in 2009 Paycheck: Txn # 23195 on 05/15/09

How can I correct in order to get the backup working.  Users were not backing up the system file.

backup rebuild error

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, jfanschutz.

I can surely help you get rid of this Error 111 when trying to run backup rebuild in QuickBooks Desktop.

This error can be fixed by toggling your paycheck detail to refresh the paycheck itself. I'd be delighted to walk you through the steps below:

  1. Open the paycheck.
  2. Change Payee name.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Go back to the paycheck and change it back to the original payee name.
  5. Then, click Save again.

Once done, we can try creating a backup for your company file and see how it works. If the same error occurs, you may need to delete and recreate the paycheck.

Here's how to delete a paycheck:

  1. Locate and open the paycheck.
  2. Select the Edit menu and choose Delete Paycheck (or Ctrl + D on your keyboard).
  3. The message Are you sure you want to delete this paycheck? message will appear. Select OK.

To create paychecks, please follow the steps below:

  1. Choose Employees.
  2. Click Pay Employees.
  3. Enter the necessary information.
  4. Click Save & Close.

This will get you on the right track. Don't hesitate to get back to me if there's anything else you need while working with backups. I'm here to keep helping.

backup rebuild error

Hello there, @philly.

I can imagine the situation that you're currently in. Also, know that I understand the urgency of this matter, and I'm here to ensure you can get through this. When utilizing the Verify and Rebuild feature, know that it'll take time to process, and if you don't get through this on your first try, you'll want to re-perform the option for the program to detect and fully fix issues within your company.

You'll want to open your company file and rebuild it directly from the File menu. After the process, verify it from the menu location to see if it's fixed or if the issue persists. If the problem persists, locate the file that you think is causing the error and edit it. Ensure that it's accurate, then save it. See this article for further guidelines: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Now, after performing the Verify and Rebuild process multiple times and still the issue exists, you can proceed to use the QuickBooks File Doctor. I'll input the steps below to get you going. To begin, here's how:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop). A reminder, If you've installed Tool Hub before, you can find out which version you have. Select the Home tab. The version will be on the bottom.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

If you can't find the icon, do a search in Windows for QuickBooks Tool Hub and select the program. For more information, feel free to check this article: Fix company file and network issues with QuickBooks File Doctor.

Moreover, here's an article that contains other available troubleshooting options to help you fix your data: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

@philly, please don't hesitate to leave a comment below if you need further assistance with this. I'll make sure to get back to you right away. Take care!
