The local file location for the backups used to be saved and all I needed to do was click finish. Now I have to search for location every time. Please advise.as to how to save the location.
I know it can be difficult when you can't locate your file. I'm here to help you with that.
Before proceeding, may I know how you back up your accounting data? This way, I'll be able to ensure you can easily locate your backup.
If you save your data manually or automatically in QuickBooks, you can select where you want to keep them. For more details, please see this article: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop Company File.
However, if you're using Intuit Data Protect (IDP), you can visit the View Backup History page to see the chronological list of your backups, from oldest to newest. To learn more, you can check out this article: Change Intuit Data Protect Backup Settings or View Status and History.
Also, please note that QuickBooks uses C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files as a default location when saving your files. Though, you'll still be asked where you want to keep them.

I backup the company files/data on a USB Drive. Until recently each time I would back up the file location was already saved so I could just click finish. Now every time I go to back up I have to find the file location on the USB drive and then finish the back up process.
Just trying to figure out why QB is not saving the file location.

That is what I have done for years, and until recently it would always save the file location so I didn't have to browse for it every time. Ijust want it to save location again...it's a pain to redo it all the time.
Any help here would be appreciated
