Batch entry of Transactions

In QB Accountant Desktop there is the options to batch entry checks and deposits from CSV files using copy and paste. Is that option available in the online version? If so, how? I am coming up short as I have tried to figure it out myself and from any online searches for help.

Batch entry of Transactions

Sending good vibes to you, MilkMaid2014.

If these transactions are coming from the bank, then you can use the WebConnect feature in QuickBooks Online to import them.

Step 1: Pick a date range:

  1. In QuickBooks, go to Accounting, then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the bank or credit card account you want to upload more transactions into. Then select View register.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the list.
  4. Write down the date of the oldest transaction. In many cases, the oldest transaction is the opening balance.

Step 2: Download transactions from your bank:

  1. Sign in to your bank or credit card’s website.
  2. Follow your bank’s instructions for how to download transactions to your computer. Some banks call this WebConnect.

For detailed steps and instruction, check this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

However, if these are not from your financial institution, you'll need to enter them manually through the Check and Bank Deposit options.

Thank you. But no this is not what I'm looking for. I do not have access to the bank account to do a bank feed. I need to import from an Excel worksheet that a client provided. In desktop, I arrange the columns and do a copy/paste for batch transactions under the accountant tab. For online, I have not found this ability. I am having to enter each transaction individually, which I guess is the only option for this. Maybe with all the constant update changes to QBO, Intuit can add this batch entry feature like desktop has. ;-)

Hello @MilkMaid2014,

I want to let you know that your voice matters and I'm taking notes of your feedback and submitting it directly to our engineers. As of the moment, you may want to consider entering your transactions manually, one at a time.

I'd also recommend checking these pages to be updated with all the latest features and improvements of QuickBooks:

Keep me posted I the comment section down below if you have any other concerns. I'm happy to lend a helping hand.

Thank you. And yes, manual entry is how I've been working them and will continue. Was just hoping for a quicker way of doing thousands of transactions for the year.

You may import the transactions data in XLS/CSV (e.g bank statements, credit card, check, bank transfer) into QBO using the importer tool to speed up the process.

Have you tried exporting checks from QBs into an excel workbook and then using that same format to import?  You could try it for a few checks and see if they import correctly.

Here in 2021 still having this issue.  Trying to enter thousands of transactions for a client one by one is very frustrating especially during tax season!

Utilize an importer tool as I mentioned earlier.

For anyone curious, they've added batch entry if you have QBO Advanced...and it's AWFUL.  It's worse than entering one by one.

Specifically, you can't just use your keyboard.  Fields like the date require you to use the mouse and a dropdown.  The date always goes back to today's date, so if you're entering a year's transactions and have 100 to do for last January, you're clicking 15 times backwards just to get to the right month for that one item.  The account, too, defaults to one account, and even if you use your arrow keys to get to the correct account it bumps you back to the incorrect one.  It's absolutely awful, and completely useless.  I don't know what they were thinking, but it's certainly not a timesaver.

I have clients who would upgrade to QBO Advanced just for this feature if it were decent.  But it's useless.
