Billing Proof Report for Contractors

I have two questions:

1) We are a construction company, and we would like to pull a report that show all the detail for a job, including materials purchased, and employee/equipment time by job task (set up under Class and Item).  So far, we can only find the specific info we need on two separate reports, not a full job picture on any one report. We have been using the Job and Vendor Detail and the Time by Job Detail reports.

When we are doing a Time and Expense invoice, the process is easy, we just do a pending invoice for the supervisor to approve, but when we are trying to bill a percentage of a bid job, we'd like a clear picture of what happened, but can't find one.

2) When we create an invoice based off an estimate, we don't want the detail of the employee time and/or materials to show up on that invoice, however then the system thinks the time/materials still needs to be billed and they show up reminding us to try and bill them, every time we need to open the job.  Is there a way to mark the time as billed, without having the specifics of the time included on an invoice?

Thanks for checking in with us and providing us in-depth details of your concern, Sara-CO.

At this time, the option to show all the details for a job (including materials purchased) and employee/equipment time by job task in one report is unavailable. We'll need to run two separate reports (the Job and Vendor Detail and the Time by Job Detail) to come up with the data you need. You can also export the reports to Excel to combine them into one. Just click the Excel drop-down button on the report and choose Create New Worksheet to export them. To learn more about modifying the vendor report, see the Customize vendor reports article.

On the other hand, the only way to hide the details on an invoice is to use Assembly. Just follow the steps and details in the Combine your inventory items to build finished goods article. To learn more about tracking your products you build using inventory parts, check out the Create, build, and work with inventory assembly items article.

Our developers are constantly uncovering and considering new ways to improve the program. To be updated with our latest news and enhancements, check out our QuickBooks Blog site. Feel free to visit our Reports page for more insights about creating and managing your reports in QucikBooks.

I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Please reply to this post and I'll get back to you. Take care always.
