I have been battling QBO since day one to get it to do what I want it to do.
Here is yet another example of a list that is beginning to grow. What I thought should be a simple set up of chart of accounts for inventory has turned into a nightmare. Not sure if this is a bug or something that is meant to torture users (sarcastic yes, its just getting old to have to deal with stuff like this).
I created my own inventory account simply called inventory. Its the only inventory account that I have in chart of accounts - I removed all others. However, QBO insists that I have an inventory account with the detail name Inventory Asset (sort of). QBO had no issue with me removing the other "inventory" accounts or renaming the one I do have as "inventory". But then when I try and create a product, something odd happens.
When setting up a product the default inventory account is now - "Inventory Asset (Deleted)". See screen shot attached. So I have to manually choose the one that isn't deleted. The fact that I have to manually chose an account that isn't deleted because the default is a deleted account is somewhat maddening.
Plus if I happened to miss it and not change it, it then creates a new inventory account called Inventory Asset. WTH?
Can someone tell me what is going on and can I simply have my account named Inventory and not Inventory Asset? Or must I have an account called Inventory Asset? And if I do have to have such an account why would it allow me to delete such an account?
