Yes, you can change check numbers on regular checks. However, there is no option to edit the check number in the bank register in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
If you need to fix the check number in the tax deposit, we can delete the wrong tax deposit and make a new one with the correct check number. Here's how:
- Go to Transactions, then Bank register.
- Find the entry with the wrong check numbers.
- Hit Edit.

- Click Delete.

To create a correct one, here's how:
- Navigate to Taxes, then Sales tax.
- Select Review sales tax, then Record payment.
- Enter the Amount, Date, and your Bank Account.
- Click the Print check and Record the payment.

- Once done, go to +New, under Vendors hit Print Checks.
- Set the Starting check number then Preview and print.
