Join nowI was using QuickBooks 2020 trial to input some data, The trial expired and I made a backup afterwards. I then installed a new QB 2020 trial on a new laptop but when I try to open the company file it loads for a long period of time and then pops up an error, 6123. I have tried to follow the steps to solve the error but I'm still getting the error. Yes I have downloaded the Tools hub but it still doesn't work. Please help.
I tried this multiple times and it did not work.
I did however restored a different company file that was password locked, updated it as well, then I tried to restore the backup that I wanted and it restored. But I wanted the company file as it was more up to date, but it gave me the same error, so I decided to go back to the restored backup and it gave me the same error again. So I decided to restart and try again with the previously restored backup and it opened. I don't know what is up with this trial or if it's the laptop it's installed on but I'm glad I finally got it to work. But because I don't know if the problem is fully fixed I've been keeping the laptop in sleep instead of shutting it down so that my company file stays open so I can finish inputting the data.
Hi there, @Zencia.
Thanks for following up with us. I appreciate that you took the time to try all the troubleshooting steps provided by our champ user above.
Glad to see you're in the company file. However, it's best to close the company file when you're not actively using it. This helps prevent data damage in the future. If you run across the error again, I recommend contacting our technical support team so they can review your account in a secure environment to open a new ticket and investigate the error of its odd behavior. I've included the steps below to contact support.
Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. I'll be here every step of the way. You can reach out to the Community at any time. Take care and have a great week.
I wished I had seen this message sooner.
Yesterday black boxes appeared in my company file blocking out most of the words in the program, but I was able to back it up. Then this morning I closed the QuickBooks as you said and restarted the laptop. I then opened my company file again and it prompted me to create a password, which I did. The black boxes are gone now but now it's saying QuickBooks is updating files please wait, its at 99% and there's also another pop up box with an error that says "The file you specified cannot be opened" and it won't go away even though I click "ok". It brought up a page with some solutions so I'll be attempting those in the meantime.
I kept clicking and it eventually went away, I can use the company file now. I don't really need the payroll update for what we're doing so I shall get back to work now. Thanks for all the help, I'll be back if it acts up again.
