Hello, roger01027.
I hope you're doing well. I'll share details when converting or upgrading a company file, and help you use your 2019 data on the 2018 version.
We can only upgrade the company file and open it on a newer QuickBooks Desktop version. Some new features and data components aren't available in earlier versions, so we're unable to downgrade the company file to the 2018 version.
However, there are two workarounds to use the 2019 company data on a 2019 version. The first workaround is to restore a backup company file from the 2018 version. Here's how:
- Open QuickBooks Accountant 2018.
- Go to File, then choose Open or Restore Company.
- Tick Restore a backup copy, then click Next.
- Select Local Backup, then proceed with Next.
- Find and browse for the backup copy for the 2018 company file. The file extension is .QBB.
- Select a folder where you want to save your restored company file, then hit Open.
The second one is to export your lists and company data from the 2019 version and import them to the 2018 edition. A detailed guide can be found here: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop.
