Can no longer email invoices with QB2019 Desktop

I can no longer email my invoices and access the HELP option because I keep getting "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application" error message and Code 19658 24162. When I click on this, it shuts the whole program down.

I have reloaded QB2019, I have reloaded by Office 2013 with Outlook. If I go to Preferences, there is no option to email. This option was working fine until my Outlook started crashing yesterday so I reloaded the program. Now something is wrong with QB. I need help FAST please!!!

Can no longer email invoices with QB2019 Desktop

Thank you, but my problem extended to the fact that when I went to Preferences/Send forms, the same error message would come up as when I tried to email an invoice. Then it would shut the whole program down. I did finally, 10 hours later, fix the problem. I reloaded Quickbooks but it wasn't until I reloaded Office 2013 / Outlook that it finally worked. I had done this several times before so I have no idea what made it work this time, but I am happy. Thank you for your suggestion.

Hi there, @klariviere1,

Welcome to our forums. I can share some infromation on how to get past your issue emailing your invoices in QuickBooks.

If you're experiencing an unusual behavior when working with QuickBooks, please make sure your computer hardware and operating system meet the minimum system requirement. You can check out this article to check if your

Microsoft Office version or Operating System is supported for your QuickBooks program: System requirements for QuickBooks 2019.

If you already meet the specifications, update your QuickBooks Desktop software to its latest release. QuickBooks periodically provides maintenance release and product (software) updates to fix emailing concerns, add features and enhancements, and update compliance information.

Once done, set up your email service again. Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Edit menu then choose Preferences.
  2. On the left pane, choose Send Forms.
  3. Under My Preferences, select the email account you are using then click Edit or Add.
  4. In the Edit Email Info screen, enter your email information. Please refer to Set up your email service in QuickBooks Desktop for a list of SMTP Server and Ports.

Once completed, try sending the invoice again to check if it works this time. If you keep getting the same hurdle, I highly suggest you contact our QuickBooks Technical Support Team. They have tools such as screen-sharing that can view your computer and further investigate what causes the hitch. Here's how to contact us:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Tap the Contact us button.

That should get you connected to our live support team. Please keep me posted on the outcome. I want to make sure you're taken care of. Have a good one!

Hi there, Jeffrey3. I appreciate your efforts performing some steps to resolve the issue.

Normally, these errors usually come up after installing the new QuickBooks version or when attempting to download a payroll update. To fix this, follow the steps below:

Solution 1: Run QuickBooks as the Administrator, then try the update.

  1. Right-click the QuickBooks icon, then select Run as Administrator.
  2. Enter login credentials.
  3. Go to the Help menu at the top.
  4. Hit Update QuickBooks.
  5. In the Update QuickBooks window, click the Update Now tab.
  6. Click to select the Reset Updates checkbox before clicking the Get Updates button.
  7. Hit OK to confirm the reset.
  8. When the update is complete, the Get Updates button becomes active and the words Update Complete appear below.
  9. If the QuickBooks Update Service message appears, click the Install Now button. The update should install successfully.

Solution 2: Make sure Internet Explorer is set to be your default browser.

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
  3. Choose the Programs tab.
  4. Under Default Web Browser click the Make Default button.

Solution 3: Repair QuickBooks Desktop.

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Back up your QuickBooks company file.
  3. Go to Start and then Control Panel.
  4. Select Programs and Features
  5. In the list of programs, select QuickBooks.
  6. Choose Uninstall/Change.
  7. Hit Continue and Next.
  8. Click Repair and then Next. Wait for it to complete.
  9. Once done, hit Finish.

Solution 4: Uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks using clean install for Windows.

I'm always here for you if you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer it for you. Take care.

Thank you for your reply. I will try, But I have a serious issue with your answer.

One of your solutions,

#2 Make sure Internet Explorer is your default browser.

Wow, I guess you don't want us to use QuickBooks. IE is outdated, insecure, and not my preferred browser. Quite frankly I will not do that. If Intuit is still using this outdated, terrible  browser for it's desktop software to work. (And I know your company still does). Then your company has a serious issue and may lose business to your competitors that don't require faulty and insecure web browsers to run properly.

I appreciate for sharing your thoughts and ideas, @Jeffrey3.

As of now, Internet Explorer (IE) is still the default web browser that supports QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). I'll take note of your opinion and pass it along to our product developer so they'll consider adding this in the future.

They're always looking for ways to improve our products that best suit our user's needs. You'll want to visit our Products Updates page to know about what's new and latest in QuickBooks.

You can also visit our Help articles page to learn and read some great articles that can guide you in managing your QBDT software.

In case you need more help, you're always welcome to post in the Community. We'll be here to assist you.
