Can someone tell me where the "Open balance" column has disappeared to when Matching bank transactions?

You'll find the information in the Chart of Accounts page, nick-hannah.

When matching bank transactions, you'll have to do it in the Banking tab. If you want to view the Open Balance figures of each account, you'll have to go to the Accounting tab.

Here's how:

  1. Click Accounting on the left menu.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Go to QuickBooks Balance or Bank Balance column for the information.

You'll want to reconcile your bank accounts to have accurate financial data, you can go over to this article: How to Reconcile an Account in QuickBooks Online.

Thanks but you don't answer the question..  When matching trasnactions I used to see an "open balance" column which is not there now.  Has it been removed then?  Your own tutorial video shows the it as it used to appear for me.  Now it is missing...  See attached file for shot of  your tutorial video reference above.

Thanks

I appreciate the screenshot that you've provided, @nick-hannah.

I'll be glad to walk you through the steps on where to see the Open Balance in QuickBooks. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking page.
  2. Under the For Review tab, click the transaction besides the Match radio button.
  3. Click the Find other records button to open the Match Transactions window then you'll see the Open Balance column.
  4. Mark the transactions you're matching then hit Save

However, if you're unable to see it, we can perform a few troubleshooting steps. To start, let's access your  account via a private or incognito window. That way, we can check if this a cache related issue.

Stored cache from your browser can affect the views and performance of your account. Here are the keyboard shortcuts to open a private or incognito window:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

If it works fine as suggested, we'll have to clear your regular browser cache. This will prevents unusual behavior from the browser. You can also use another supported browser as an alternative.

For more details about matching transactions, click this article: Add and match downloaded banking transactions.

Also, I've added these articles in case you'll want to reconcile your account. It contains information about starting, fixing any differences, and completing the reconciliation process.

Keep me posted if you have other concerns. I'm always here to help, @nick-hannah. Take good care.

Thanks.  I've tried the icognito window in Chromw and that doesnt work.  I've tried a different browser without any chached information from QB and that doesnt work.  I attach a screenshot from my browser showing the screen where the "Open Balance" column should appear.  When I click the cog wheel for any options on this screen nothing happens - on other screens that gives me options to add or remove columns.  Perhaps this is the problem here?
