Can't edit Purchase Order Template

Help...very new at this.

I have tried and tried to edit my standard Purchase Order template.   I need to change my company address and all that happens is I get an overlayed address in that block.

Is it even possible to Edit or must I just do a new one?

Also, the PO is going to 4 different department emails at my shippers....I need to change the email of one of the (new to position).   These 4 emails automatically populate when I hit SEND for the PO.  Where would I edit this?

Thanks for the help.

Can't edit Purchase Order Template

It seems you're using QuickBooks Desktop, VJA.

You no longer need to create a new template. You'll just have to edit it. Here's how:

  1. Click the Lists menu, then go to Templates.
  2. Look for the Purchase Order template, right-click, then choose Edit Template.
  3. Under COMPANY & TRANSACTION INFORMATION, click Update Information.
  4. Go to the Contact Information tab, then change the company address in the Address field.
  5. Click OK, then OK again.

To edit the email address, you'll need to go to the vendor's profile. Here's how:

  1. Click the Vendors menu, then choose Vendor Center.
  2. Look for the vendor, right-click, then choose Edit Vendor.
  3. Go to the Address Info tab.
  4. Enter the email address in the Main Email field.
  5. Click OK.

You can enter multiple email addresses and separate it by semi-colons.

Let me know if you still need my help. I'm just around.

Can't edit Purchase Order Template

Still Won't Work!!

I followed your exact instructions...to change the ADDRESS.

Went Lists, Templates, found my Custom Purchase Order, right clicked Edit Template.  Under Company & Transaction Information I clicked "Update Info"

It keeps telling me to use the Layout Designer.....I get a window showing my address which I've tried to change before....in this Layout Designer pop up it shows my correct address....HOWEVER...When you close that window my Purchase order shows the new address sitting on top of the old address in the block for the address?

I tried to just delete the template....but of course says I can't.

Can't edit Purchase Order Template

Hi there, @Anonymous.

Thank you for the quick response. Allow me to help share some additional steps to make sure the address on your Purchase Order (PO) template is correct.

The Layout Designer window lets you move information around on the actual printed PO. To make the address fit on the field, you may need to resize items and information on your template. To do that, you need to go to the Layout designer to change the size and position of the address on your PO.

When you select the Company Address box, you can resize it, drag it to a new location, or click the Properties button for more customization options (like fonts, font colors, borders, fill colors, and more).

Take on final look at the preview. After you use the Layout Designer to make whatever changes are appropriate to your new PO form template, click OK to save your changes.

You’ve officially customized your PO; now you can start using them. For additional reference, you can also check this article: Use and customize form templates.

If you need to reach out for more help, feel free to call our Customer Care support. They can run the screen share tool to help you get this customized quickly.

Here's how you can reach them:

  1. Go to https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact
  2. Select your product.
  3. Select your QuickBooks version.
  4. Select a topic.
  5. Click on the Get Phone Number button.

That should take care of it.

Drop me a comment below if you have any other questions about updating your PO template. I'll be happy to help you further. Have a great rest of your week.

Can't edit Purchase Order Template

Our company has two authorized people who can change company information neither of whom actually raises the invoices or sends the emails etc.

We manually change things in messages etc each time they are sent. However, when I try to edit the template for the SAME items and no others, the edit is rejected with a message that I don't have permission to change company information. We aren't CHANGING company information and surely we should be able to change the template in exactly the same way we are editing each and every message when it is sent?

Can't edit Purchase Order Template

Let's proceed to these troubleshooting steps so you can edit and save the template, briton.

If you are using QuickBooks Online, we can proceed in switching to a private browser. This way, we can get rid of the error. If you're able to edit as expected, we can clear your regular browsers cache. Sometimes stored cache files causes QuickBooks not to function well. Alternatively, you can use any of these supported browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Safari
  • Internet Explorer
  • Mozilla Firefox

In QuickBooks Desktop, you can reset the Admin password to toggle and refresh your permission. Let me show you how:

  1. From the Company menu, select Users.
  2. Select Set Up Users and Roles
  3. Choose the user and click Edit.
  4. Change your password and then click OK
  5. Select Close

After performing any of the steps, please edit and save the template to check if you're able to do so.
