Can't open Mac QB file

I get the following message when trying to open last backup file lqb2016:

"Mac-mini -4.local has the file open in another copy of Quickbooks.

Close the company file in the other copy of Quickbooks. Then you can open it in this copy of Quickbooks."

What's weird is I only have one copy of Quickbooks 2016 for Mac so I don't understand this error message or what to do.  Can anyone offer help on this?

Thanks, Don

I'm here to share some information why you're getting that error, Orionmac.

This error will normally pop-up if your QuickBooks file was not properly closed or if it was saved on the cloud.

To fix this, we'll have to rename the file. I'll show you how:

  1. On your QuickBooks file, press F2 on the keyboard to open the Product Information window.
  2. Take note of the location listed in the File Information section.
  3. Go to the specified location.
  4. Right-click the Windows Start button > File Explorer or Open Windows Explorer.
  5. Right-click the file, and then select Rename
  6. Change the file name and press Enter.
  7. Select Yes.

Afterward, we'll have to set up QuickBooks to use the new file.

Don't hesitate to get back to me if there's anything else that I can help you with!

You have to mount the disc image first, then drag the backup to your documents folder then open from there.
