Cannot Print Barcodes

I installed a new printer and now qb will not print a barcode on my inventory labels.

I know the printer works as I am able to print shipping labels from UPS with the barcode.

My version is 9.0. I've installed other printers before with no problem

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Rest assured, I'll do my best to help you fix this and make sure you're able to print the barcode on your inventory labels.

 

You need to make sure the Device Driver of your printer is updated. While you may still be able to print other forms, doing this will ensure that QuickBooks will be able to work with your printer when printing the payroll checks. If you're not familiar with the process, I suggest you reach out to your IT personnel. For more insight about this, please check out Microsoft's guide on how to fix printing issues.

  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop, then the version that you're using.

Cannot Print Barcodes

This is not for payroll.

I can not print barcodes from quickbooks for my inventory items. You know, an inventory tag with an inventory item number and a quickbooks generated barcode for the item number.

 

I can print the barcode from a pdf file straight from my computer but NOT quickbooks. 

The problem is not my printer, it is quickbooks.

Allow me to join this conversation and provide you with additional steps so you can print barcodes in QuickBooks Desktop.

 

Printing issue may occur due to the following reasons:

  • The printer is not compatible with QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Thermal paper is not properly placed in the printer.
  • The printer is not connected to the computer.
  • You are attempting to print to non-thermal tags
  • Damage to the Zebra printer driver installation

To get this issue sorted out let's try performing some troubleshooting steps. To start with, make sure that the printer is turned on, cables are properly connected, and paper is available. Once verified and the issue persists, we can proceed with configuring your QuickBooks preferences.

 

Here's how:

  1. Choose File.
  2. Click on Preferences.
  3. Select on Workstation.
  4. Select Documents & Printers. Make sure your printer is selected on the appropriate line.
  5. Make sure an appropriate Template has been selected for your printer.
  6. Select Save.

Once done and the problem continues, let's verify if the printer is online and the queue is empty.

 

To do that:

  1. Select on Windows Start.
  2. select on Control Panel.
  3. Select Devices and Printers.
  4. Right-click the printer that is not printing. If Use Printer Online is available, choose it to bring the printer back online.

Cannot Print Barcodes

I have done all those steps. Every thing else prints out on my inventory label such as price, item number, our store logo, etc. The only thing that will not print is the barcode. 

I can print it if I convert the inventory tags to a pdf format. 

It just will not print directly from quickbooks.
