Clear Audit Trail? I tried condense file option but it didn't work out :(

Hi there, Kooroomboo.

I can provide the steps to help condense your QuickBooks company file. Before we start, here are some of the things you need to know about Condense Data utility:

  • It is not reversible
  • It may or may not affect the size of your company file
  • It may not fix file damage.

You may want to check first if there are no damage data on your file before you start condensing it. That being said, you can run the Verify and Rebuild data utility.

Once done, try to condense again the file. Here's how:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Pick Utilities, then select Condense Data.
  3. Select the first option as shown below, then click Next.
  4. When complete, a window opens advising you of the total reduction in your file size as well as the location of the backup prior to the file optimization.

If it still not working, you only have two options:

You can refer to the Use the Condense Data utility page to learn more about the use of this feature in QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know if you need additional information or how this goes by commenting below. I'm always around to help.

@Kooroomboo

As another option, you may purchase a 3rd party condense service to remove the audit trail data.
