Combining 2 companies in Quickbooks Desktop

How do I combine both my property management and rental companies into one company? I tried looking in the Report section to combine the two but the option is unavailable in the 2019 Desktop version. Am I missing something?

Combined reporting is an Enterprise feature, I believe.

Hi there, @InfinityStrong.

Thank you for posting in the Community. Allow me to help share some insights about combining two accounts in QuickBooks Desktop.

To make sure I'm on the same page, are you trying to merge two company files in QuickBooks? If so, that option is currently unavailable. However, if you're trying to combine reports from two company data files, let me share the ways to do that.

If you're using the QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, it has a built-in feature that allows you to combine reports from multiple company files.

If you need other report combinations or you're using QuickBooks Desktop Pro or Premier, you can use third-party apps that integrate well with QuickBooks so you can combined reports. While we can't recommend a specific program, you can browse our different options for third-party apps from the Apps Center.

The following article contains more information about combine reports in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise: Combine reports from two or more company data files.

If you can't find what you need, you can also manually export reports from each file and combine them using Excel.

Here's how:

  1. Open your first data file.
  2. Create the report for this data file.
  3. Export the report to a worksheet in an Excel worksheet and save the workbook.
  4. Close the first data file and open the second data file.
  5. Create the same report in the second data file.
  6. Export this report to a new worksheet in the same workbook and save.
  7. Open Microsoft Excel and open the workbook.
  8. Manually combine the two reports into a third worksheet.
  9. Save the workbook.

That should point you in the right direction. Please know that I'm just a post away if you're referring to something else or if you have any other questions about QuickBooks. I'll be happy to help you out. Have a great day ahead.
