I am currently using Quickbooks for Mac 2019. When I want to switch company files, I used to be able to go to file/open recent and find my companies listed there. They no longer show up there and I need help figuring out how to get them back there.
On a side note, they also used to show up when I right clicked the QB icon in my dock but they don't show up there anymore either.
I'm here to help you find your company file, @cindy-g1,
Before anything else, let's make sure your QuickBooks Mac file is up to date. Once done, let's do a general search on your computer to locate your company.
To do that, go to your server computer and perform a wild card search by typing one of these extensions on the search bar:
Don't forget to include the Asterisk (*) before the file extension. Once you found the file, take note of the location and follow these steps to restore them:
Please update me how the troubleshooting steps go. I want to make sure you're all set.
Thank you Jen_D. I know where all my files are. I haven't lost them.
I just can't get them to show up on my "Open Recent" which IntuitBrooks answer below you said was a Mac OS thing. I haven't cleared them on purpose (which you can do) but they also aren't repopulating there as I open and close them.
Is this something you can help with?
Thanks for your prompt response, cindy-g1.
In addition to IntuitBooks' answer, it's possible that the Mac system doesn't remember the files that you've recently opened. Let's bring them back by changing the preference.
I'll show you how:
Restart your Mac computer and try accessing the company files from the Open Recent menu.
