Join nowAfter having used QB for over 20 years my business closed so I no longer needed QB and let my subscription lapse. Came to find out that I am now unable to access my company data unless I either renew my annual subscription or switch to a monthly subscription, What the Heck!!!
Why would QB do this? I am no longer in need of the service and see no justification for the continued subscription but my business information is being held hostage unless I do just that!!!
QB community, please come to my help, I have already filed a complaint with the FTC AND BBB but in the meantime, I need to access the data for official purposes. I do not have the luxury of paying for a service I no longer use to a corporation that makes BILLIONS ANNUALLY.

Let me help you get your company data. Before we start, I can see that you're tagging this post for QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Once your QBDT subscription or service is canceled, you no longer have access to the software and all related services. However, you'll retain access to the company data file stored on your device (this is the backup company file).
You can download and install a trial version of QuickBooks through this link: Download a trial of QuickBooks Desktop. Each version has license and product codes in this link.
After installing the software, you can restore the backup company file.

They offer 2 kind of license for QB Desktop 2021 or older versions. i.e one time license and subscription license. You can utilize the trial license for QB Desktop 2021 to open your file(s).
I rarely complain but I am so angry! I renewed my subscription, Quickbooks 'updated' and now I cannot get it to open. Making matters worse, the only time I can speak to someone is when I'm at my primary job!! I have tried to uninstall and reinstall quickbooks many times, all to no luck and I cannot contact ANYONE!! I'm dumping this garbage as soon as I can get access to my client files. This company has gone downhill fast. My family and I have been customers since the beginning of Intuit. NO MORE!

I concur QuickBooks is a bunch of theivin mother you know what’s! They make billions and billions of dollars every day and every month and every year, and they are crushing little companies like ours . We didn’t know QuickBooks anything and out of the blue they decided that we did we got a deposit after we’ve had many many deposits no problem they never said a word all the sudden they say we owe them $854 in fees is supposed to be free free, checking…. They were trying to say that every time we swipe your card and it got declined that it would charge $25, even though they didn’t lose any money. No money came out of the account…. This was bogus we fight invite invite invite invite with them. They held all of our money above and beyond what we owe them for nine days without them every single day., in the end, they say they’re taking th fees off and we were going to pay less and they charged us $300 more than what we own in the first place as what they said. We were originally owing them 854. They supposedly took all those fees off, dropped us down the light 300. Then they turned around and sorted us 1100 out of our account they were holding well over $2000..
On another instantance I did an electronic cheque transfer to my bank, my outside bank, it was supposed to be in electronic transfer that instant
So the money was in my other bank for five days I didn’t touch it. I didn’t think anything of it five days later QuickBooks came back and withdrew the thousand dollars that I had transferred from my account saying that my account that they took it from was invalid….
QuickBooks has no excuse for any of us there not a bank!
they have no right to act like they are a bank.
They don’t have a right to charge in a selfies they don’t have a ride to charge bank fees. They don’t have a right to hold money. They don’t have a right to just randomly go in and withdraw money from my checking account.!!! another bank!
When I called them about it, they told me the transaction wasn’t there and it never happened it didn’t exist even though I have proof that they withdraw money from my other bank.
QuickBooks is under investigation right now for customers, QuickBooks, checking accounts having invalid balances an incorrect balances. Everyone you better watch your money close because I’m telling you they’re stealing money!
