Converted to QB 2020 Desktop and now I can't send invoices via email

I'm here to ensure you're able to send your invoices, @luvinmygirl.

There are a couple of reasons you're unable to send your invoices through QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). These are the following:

  • The email preference being set incorrectly.
  • A damaged QuickBooks installation.
  • The domain admin was blocked.
  • Account security settings from your email provider.
  • The anti-virus software is blocking the connection.

Let's perform some steps to help fix this. First off, let's make sure you're QBDT software is in its latest release. This is to ensure it's updated with features and enhancements to prevent emailing issues. I'll guide you on how to do the manual update:

  1. Close your company files and QuickBooks, then open the Windows Start menu.
  2. Search for QuickBooks Desktop, then right-click the icon and select Run as administrator.
  3. While on the No Company Open screen, go to the Help menu and pick Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  4. Click the Options tab. Pick Mark All and then choose Save.
  5. Go to the Update Now tab and select the Reset Update checkbox.
  6. Hit Get Updates when you're ready.

Once the update finishes, you'll have to close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop. To install the updates, click Yes. Also, when the install finishes, restart your computer to ensure all updates have been applied.

You can also get updates from the internet or do automatic updates. For the steps on how to do it, please refer to this article: How to do automatic updates for QBDT?.

Second, please check the settings in the webmail preferences:

  1. Click the Edit menu then choose Preferences.
  2. Select Send Forms on the left panel.
  3. Under My Preferences tab, pick the email account you're using.
  4. Click Edit then mark the SSL box, or just select Default.
  5. In the Server Name field, make sure the server name and port match your email provider's settings: List of Server name and port number in QBDT.

I'll also be including this awesome resource so that you'll know what to do if you encounter webmail password issues in QBDT. It contains the steps on how to configure your antivirus and email settings to resolve issues like this: How to fix password issues in QBDT?.
