Could not deactivate seat license on crashing PC. How do I deactivate and reactivate?

BACKGROUND: Updated to QuickBooks Desktop PRO in December 2018. COULD NOT deactivate license before PC crashed on weekend in July 2018.  QB 800# not manned on weekends. Had to buy a new license (July 2019) which was installed on a different PC. Still have an active (December 2018) license that I cannot use. Wasted HOURS on THREE separate calls to QB 800#.  Reps could not comprehend my problem. They repeatedly tendered "solutions" that had nothing to do with the problem. Had to protest to supervisor.  On hold for an hour on on with no solution. Later attempt promised call back within a few HOURS; they left message several DAYS later.  WORTHLESS. VERY frustrated. NO solution.

Question: How do I deactivate the December 2018 license in order to reactivate it on a different machines?

Re: Could not deactivate seat license on crashing PC. How do I deactivate and reactivate?

Hello there, @Rocky Dawg.

I've got here some information to share on how you can install your old license to a different computer.

In situations like this, there's no need for you to deactivate the license. All you have to do is to reinstall QuickBooks and use the same license and product number.

QuickBooks can be installed and reinstalled multiple times, just validate the license registration by logging in to your account when prompted. Once QuickBooks is installed, you may enter the validation code through the help menu.

There are two ways you can do this. Follow the steps I've prepared for you:

Option 1: Migrator Tool

On the old computer:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Choose Utilities then click Move QuickBooks to another computer.
  3. Tap on I'm Ready, then create a one-time password.
  4. Choose the USB flash drive you will use, then wait until all filed are copied.

On the new computer:

  1. Insert the USB flash drive.
  2. Wait for the Move QuickBooks tool, or run Move_QuickBooks.bat file from your flash drive.
  3. Enter the password you created, then select Let's go.
  4. Wait for the process to complete.

Please note that the duration of the migration will depend on the speed of your computer and the internet, and the size of your company file. You can get the steps here: Move to or reinstall QuickBooks Desktop in another computer

Option 2: Install QuickBooks manually

To download the program on your new computer, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Downloads & Updates page to get the download link.
  2. Enter your CountryProduct and Version.
  3. Click the Search button.
  4. Select the Download button.

Next, you can proceed with installing the program. You can get the complete process in this article: Installing QuickBooks Desktop. In case, you get installation issues along the way, you can follow the solutions outlined in this article: Using the QBInstall tool

Please let me know how it goes by leaving a comment below. I'm here if you need further help with the installation. Have a great day!
