Credit Card entries unreconcile.

I am running Quickbooks Desktop Premier 2021.  In one of my credit card accounts, I have two transactions that keep showing unreconciled.  One is dated 11/08/2020 and one is from 03/08/2021.  These have been reconciled for months and all of sudden they are showing unreconciled.  Is there a way I can correct this without having to un-reconcile everything for a year.  I have run the Quickbooks Tool Hub and it has not corrected the problem.

Credit Card entries unreconcile.

Thanks for visiting the Community today, smorgan01.

I appreciate you for letting us know that you’ve already tried running the QuickBooks Tool Hub and sharing the result. We’ll have to perform another one to fix the issue.

Before we proceed, let me share some of the reasons why reconciled transactions show up as reconciled.

  • Someone undid the last reconciliation, changed or deleted the reconciled transactions.
  • Cleared transactions were unchecked (uncleared) in the account register.
  • Funds were transferred from a previously reconciled bank account to a sub-account.
  • Company file conversions can cause issues (from QuickBooks for Mac to Windows or QuickBooks Online to Desktop) (US only).
  • The transactions were never reconciled in the company file. This might be because the file was restored from a backup, which can overwrite data and reconciliations.

We’ll have to do a mini-reconciliation to keep your account in order. When using this method, QuickBooks will remind you that you’re performing this process.

Also, it will put previously unreconciled transactions back without affecting the cycle that they follow. For detailed instructions, check the following article: Reconcile previously deleted and re-entered checking or credit card transactions.

Next, run the run Verify and Rebuild Data Utilities. These built-in tools will help find damaged transactions or lists that contribute to this issue. I also recommend creating a backup copy of the company file to prevent accidental loss.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the File menu at the top to choose Utilities and Rebuild Data.
  2. Click OK to create a backup of the company file.
  3. Tap the Save menu to keep the copy.
  4. Press the OK button once the Rebuild is completed.
  5. Follow the previous directions except choose Verify Data.

When the tool sees that there’s an issue with the file, click the Rebuild button. If it’s unable to find one, choose OK and continue using the company file. You can read this article for more insights into this process: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
