Data Entry

I am doing bookkeeping for a stylist and wanted to see if there is a program or software that makes data entry less time consuming and tedious. My client invoices around 10-14 clients a month. I have to sort through all of the receipts and input them per client and create an invoice. We then have to identify what needs to be billed, credited, etc. There are about 200 orders a month, so just trying to see if there is an easier way to input them. THanks, Wes

Data Entry

Hello, Wes.

I agree that manually entering the data can take a lot of time. With QuickBooks Online, you have the option to import the following information.

  • Bank Data
  • Customers
  • Vendors
  • Chart of Accounts
  • Products and Services
  • Invoices

As for the file formats, you can use the following:

  • CSV file: A common file format used for text files that contain tabular data. In CSV files, each field of text is separated by a comma, semi-colon, or other special character.
  • XLS/XLSX file: XLS is the file format of Microsoft Excel 1997-2003. Microsoft Excel 2007 and newer use the XLSX file format.
  • Google Sheets: A cloud-based spreadsheet created in Google Drive.

To learn more about the process, please check out this guide: Common questions about importing data to QuickBooks Online.

On the other hand, you can search for third-party application that has a similar function and integrate it with your account.

To find an app, here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to Apps on the left menu.
  3. Type a keyword in the search field. For example, import bills. Then hit enter on your keyboard.
  4. Select an app to see the key benefits and click on the Get app now button.

For additional questions with data entry or other concerns, please let me know in the comments below. I'll be around to help you out again. Take care and stay safe!

@weslaughton

You should start from QBO Essentials, not Simple Start

https://quickbooks.grsm.io/US

then explore this specific app to integrate with your QBO

Thanks for getting back to us, @weslaughton

We can't recommend a specific application that you can use but I can guide you in finding it.

There are two ways to look for a third-party app. First is by going to the apps.intuit.website or navigating the Apps menu in your QBO account. Let me guide you how:

  1. Go to the Apps menu at the left pane.
  2. Select the Find Apps tab, and then type a keyword in the search bar like "import data."
  3. Click the magnifying glass to search, and then choose the app that suits your need.

To keep up with the latest news and product enhancements, I recommend visiting our QuickBooks blog page. To know the newly added features, you can go to the What's New in QBO tab.

I'm always around to help if you have more questions about managing your QBO account. Just click the Reply button so I can assist you further. Take care and have a good one.
