So, I am trying to see if there is a way to import my clients QBDT file into QBO and then also use current information from QBO to update this newly imported back-up.  For clarification, we started the company in QBO for our client while their old firm was closing out their books for the year in QBDT. Now that we have their last backup file, we want to use that to import the company into QBO so that we have all of the historical data. But, while waiting for the backup, we reworked their entire Chart of Accounts and they had also been entering transactions for the current month into QBO. Basically, we need to merge the two files. Is there a way to do this easily? Or is there a less difficult way to achieve these results? Thx

Less difficult would be to take the current QBDT file and rework its COA to match what you did in QBO, as well as enter the current transactions from QBO into QBDT - then you can import from DT to QBO. There is no way from Intuit to merge the data, as importation will overwrite everything you did so far in QBO

You may have 2 options:

1. Redo your works on QBD and reimport the data into QBO.

2. Prepare the additional data and import them into QBO by an importer tool. Utilize the trial period of TPImporter.
