Don't see Import Styles option

Hi,

I followed the instructions in this article to get "Import Styles" to show up, but I still don't see it in the New Styles dropdown. Why is this? I would like to import my custom invoice I created in Word.

I can help you get this sorted out, Selah.

It could be that the Import Style feature hasn't turned on yet in the Settings preventing you from seeing this option. Let's enable this feature by performing the steps I outlined below:

  1. Go to the Settings icon at the upper right.
  2. Select QuickBooks Labs.
  3. Scroll down to Import Style plug-in, then turn it on.
  4. Click Done.

The following steps should let you activate your Import Style feature in QuickBooks Online.

I also added this article that provides information about customizing sales forms in QBO: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online

If I can be of any additional assistance about importing styles in QBO, please do add them below. I'll be happy to help.

Hi @GlinetteC,

I had already done that, following this article like I mentioned: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/global/importing-and-exporting-data/import-custom-form-s...

However, the option still doesn't show up in the dropdown.

Thanks for the screenshot, Selah.

You may be experiencing some browser-related issues. We can fix this by running some troubleshooting steps.

First, let's open QuickBooks on a private window. It is the best place to identify any browser-related issues. You can use these keyboard shortcuts to open one:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift N

Second, if it works, we can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. A piled cache can also be the reason for some unexpected issues on the opened pages.

Then, we also have the option to use a different browser like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.

Feel free to check this article that has detailed information when mapping the form style: Design Your Custom Form Style.

Don't hesitate to mention my name if you need help. Take care!

Hey @Adrian_A,

Thanks for your reply. I cleared the cache on both Chrome and Firefox, as well as used Incognito/Private browsing mode and still don't see the option even though the plugin is enabled. Not sure if it has something to do with my account itself? Or maybe I just need to give it time. I also tried deactivating the plugin and reactivating it again a couple times, but it still didn't work.

I appreciate your efforts in trying to fix this Import Styles option problem, @Selah.

Allow me to provide some insights and steps to get this matter sorted out, so you can now start importing sales templates in QuickBooks Online.

The option to import custom styles is only visible to all the admin users. If you're currently using standard user access, then this is the reason the option isn't available.

To fix this, I recommend logging in as an admin so you can import the templates. Here's a link that you can visit to learn more about the different user access grant in QuickBooks Online: Learn how to manage who can access your books in QuickBooks Online.

However, if you're an admin already and the problem continues, I suggest contacting our Customer Care Team. They have the necessary tools that can help investigate the root cause of this hurdle and apply a resolution.

To contact them:

  1. Click on Help at the top menu bar.
  2. Hit on the Contact Us button.
  3. Enter a brief description of the issue in the What can we help you with? box.
  4. Press on Let's talk.
  5. Select on Get a callback.
  6. Key in your contact details, then tap on Confirm my call.

Please keep me posted on how things turn out. I'm just a few clicks away if there's anything else you need. Have a lovely day!

Hello. Is there an update on this? I'm an Admin and the Import Styles option is not in my QuickBooks Lab either:

Let me share some details about importing custom form styles, jhicken.

New QuickBooks Online (QBO) users can no longer access the Import Style feature effective 06/29/2021. However, you can use the Custom Form Style feature with the different sample designs. You can import and then add your company info (such as the company logo) to highlight your brand.

While the existing QuickBooks Online users can only access the QuickBooks Labs to save and upload DOCX templates.

For more information about importing an invoice or estimate template, you can also read this article: Import custom form styles for invoices or estimates

Let me know if you have more concerns about importing templates. We're always delighted to assist.

Sorry your answer is not very clear, so in new QBO are we stuck with the given templates only ?? Can we upload our own template? I want to add two small icons of my accreditations at the bottom of the invoice, but don't know how!. I am in process of moving from xero to QBO

thanks

Let me clear up the confusion, @Optima.

From the information we got from our Notifications Team, any companies that didn't enable Import Styles from QuickBooks Labs on or before 6/29/2021 can no longer activate it. Otherwise, they'll continue to have access if they had this feature turned on before the said date. The Import Styles feature was disabled for newly created companies. In the future, there are plans that this feature will completely retire from all QBO companies. For your reference, check out this article: Import custom form styles for invoices or estimates.

We still have great templates available in QuickBooks Online you can make use of when customizing your own forms.

I'm always here if you have any follow-ups about the Import Style feature.

Firstly thanks for a prompt reply :-)

In short, in addition to the company logo, could I place couple of icons/small images on my invoice in new QB using the given templates? I have just started using QB (after 6/29/21)

Thanks

Allow me to step in and provide insights about the logo, Optima.

There are requirements when uploading a logo and the following details below are the things you need:

  • a .gif, .bmp, .png, .jpg, .jpe, or .jpeg file
  • smaller than 10 MB
  • 24-bits or less in bit depth (or color depth)
  • square-shaped, since rectangles don’t work
  • using the standard RGB color space.

If you want to use it on the imported template, you need to add it before uploading the form. Once the template is uploaded, the system won't allow you to edit it.

You can add a logo to the template created within QuickBooks and here's how to change the size.

  1. Select the Gear icon on the toolbar.
  2. Under Your Company, select Custom Form Styles.
  3. Find the template you want to edit, then select Edit under the Action column.
  4. Go to the Design tab, then select Make logo edits.
  5. Select Show logo, then change the size and placement as you desire. Please know that the height and width can’t be changed.
  6. Click Done.

If you have created a template within, QuickBooks, here's how to upload it: Add, customize, or remove logos on sales forms.

If you run into any problems customizing your templates, here's how to fix it: Troubleshoot common issues when using and customizing templates.

Keep me posted if there's anything else you need about the logo. I'll be right here to help you.

Thanks MaryLandT,

Let me clarify my problem again

What I have understood so far is that new comers to QB (licenses after 29/06/21) would no longer be able to upload templates into Quickbooks? There is no issue with adding logo to the invoice, I have already done it...

In fact, issue is that I want to add more images at the bottom of the invoice which seems impossible in the new version of QB because you have to select one of the available templates only (cant use your own templates in new QB started after 29/06/21). None of the available templates in new (post 29/06/21) version of QB allow to add any more image except one logo.

Thanks

QuickBooks team - why remove a feature and benefit that is useful for Accountants and clients. Please reinstate the current standard custom form is very limiting you cant move things about and alter the size of images. Why not ask users if they would like you to remove functions in advance!

Thanks for joining the Community, PD25.

As of 6/29/2021, new accounts no longer have access to the Import Styles feature inside of QuickBooks Labs. Existing accounts can still save and upload DOCX templates.

I can certainly understand how reinstating the Import Styles feature could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.

You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear (⚙️) icon.
  2. Choose Feedback.
  3. Enter your suggestions and/or comments.
  4. Hit Next.
  5. Click Skip and send message.
  6. The available drop-down menu can be used to pick an appropriate category.
  7. Select Send message.

Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.

I've also included a detailed resource about saving and uploading DOCX templates which may come in handy if your account was created before 6/29/2021: Import custom form styles for invoices or estimates

If there's any questions, I'm just a post away. Have a fantastic day!
