Thanks for taking the time to share your concern in the Community, @lulu923.
I can see the challenges you're facing with the autofill feature not working properly in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Let's troubleshoot this matter together, so you can get back to your business.
First, ensure that QuickBooks is updated to the latest release. This will guarantee that your software is up-to-date with the latest features and fixes. Then, open a sample company file.
Here's how:
- Open your QBDT Mac.
- In the No Company Open window, navigate your cursor to the Open a sample file section and click the dropdown arrow.
- Select a sample file and follow the on-screen instructions to finish.
Afterward, create a sample transaction and type in any Payee. If the autofill feature works completely fine, then you'll need to verify and rebuild your data. However, you'll need to re-sort your lists if the issue persists.
To verify your data, you can follow the steps below:
- Go to Window then select Close All.
- Go to File, then select Utilities.
- Select Verify Data.
If you see "Your data has lost integrity", data damage was found in the file. This means you'll need to rebuild your file. I've listed the steps below.
- Select the Window at the top menu bar, then hit Close All.
- Open the File menu and select Utilities.
- Click on Rebuild Data.
