emails quit working since Release 12

Always sent reports (PDF) by clicking email. Thunderbird compose window opened and all was well. Not now, since Release 12 of QB 2020.

Problem solved. QB does NOT like tbird 64 bit. Went back to tbird 32 bit (78.11.0 (32-bit)) and now all is well.

Now the onus is on QB to be more flexible.

Let's get your PDF files working. You can run our QuickBooks Tool Hub to fix this. Let me guide you how.

 

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file on your Desktop.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe). Then, follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  5. From the launchpad, select Program Problems.

Ran Tool Hub as recommended...no luck.

In the past I ran a report, clicked on e-mail, send report as PDF. A Thunderbird compose window opened with the attached report PDF. Now it shows a window titled "Choose your email method", then another with two options:

1. Web mail

2. Quickbooks E-mail.

Tried both, with no luck.

Currently, I must save the PDF, then compose and attach.

I appreciate the time you've spent for doing the steps provided by my colleague above. It looks like we need to investigate what's causing this behavior. To do that, I recommend reaching out to our Customer Care Team. 

 

Here's how: 

 

  1. In your QuickBooks Desktop program, go to Help QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. In the Have a Question window, click the Contact Us link at the bottom.
  3. From the Contact Us page, select any topics.
  4. Under Here's how to connect with a QuickBooks expert section, click the Start a Message or Get Phone Number button.

Thanks for your quick replies. For now I'm going to do it longer way (save, then create my own email via Thunderbird and attach).

Maybe the research team might find something in Release 12 that's broken.

Good luck.

PS: The reason this is important to me is that I send certain reports to "groups", plus all of my email addresses are in Thunderbird.

Perhaps my issue is with Quickbooks not liking Thunderbird 64 bit. Recently upgraded to Tbird 64 bit, but can't be 100% sure if the timing.

Any thoughts?

Here's how:

 

  1. Open your QuickBooks.
  2. Click F1 on your keyboard.
  3. In the window Have a Question, select Contact Us.
  4. Enter a keyword of your issue, then hit Let's talk.
  5. Choose Get a Callback.
  6. Put in your contact info, and click Confirm.

Not being a major guru, I think going back to tbird 32 bit might prove the issue one way or the other. I'm trying to find out if I can safely go back to 32 bit tbird without screwing something up.
