Can someone please tell me WHY when doing an export from Quickbooks Online, although it asks for date range, and I put that I ONLY want 2020 (From January 1 to date), that it still give me EVERYTHING from 2019 on. I have tried it several times to make sure I am doing it right. At first I couldn't get it to work at all. Now it works, but not for date specific. Is this a known issue with the export function?
Let's resolve the error you have when trying to export your data, @pjmitchell55.
Are you trying to export bank transactions from the Banking page? If yes, you can click on This year from the Date drop-down to generate all the transactions from 01/01/2020 to 12/31/2020. After clicking Export to Excel, that should generate transactions for that specific period.
You can check this article for more information: Export reports, lists, and more.
However, it can also be caused by the piled-up cache in your regular browser. You can isolate this by clearing your browser’s cache. Try using a private browser when exporting your data. If it works, proceed and clear the cache in the one that you're currently using.
Here’s how to go incognito or use a private browser:

I will spare you the lengthy details, but we wanted to import ALL data, ALL transactions, (especially vendor bills and bill payments, as well as other expenses entered into QBO) but from ONLY 2020. We are now using DESKTOP - the Quickbooks Premier version for Contractors.
I did finally get the export to work (at first it wouldn't work at all) but it brings everything from 2019 as well. We do NOT want 2019 transactions at all.
And I will say this just FYI - I have read NUMEROUS posts here that explicitly say that despite what may be said, ONLY Internet Explorer works for the export. And I found this true. I got error after error when trying to use anything but IE. I got a message explicity saying that ONLY Internet Explorer works. So I finally got it to wok with IE after making the necessary adjustments to the IE settings.
I think it a shame and exasperating that posts I see from almost 2 years ago complaining about the myriad issues of exporting from Online to Desktop have yet to be fixed. I have to assume its because Quickbooks wants people to stay with QBO rather than Desktop.
I do thank you for your response.
You need a 3rd party tool to migrate only some portions of data. i.e TPExporter for Online, TPImporter for Desktop.

Yes, thank you. I do know this. But WHY does the QBO function ASK for a date range and then ignore it?
I wish I could make it better, @pjmitchell55.
I am happy you're able to export your company data from the online to the desktop version of QuickBooks.
I want to let you know that even if you've chosen a date range, it'll still export all your data since the conversion process is expected to create a copy of your company.
To learn more about the export process, here's a link you can visit for reference: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.
Lastly, I've also included this helpful article for ideas about how your data is converted from each version of QuickBooks: Limitations when you convert from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.
