export reports to excel

I keep getting this message when trying to export reports to Excel "We're sorry, but QuickBooks doesn't support updates for this type of report."

Microsoft did update recently but I've been able to successfully export reports to excel since then. It was working just fine in the morning, I came back to it in the evening and it would not work anymore. Hopefully someone can help. Thanks

Re: export reports to excel

Hi ncotton1,

May I know what specific report did you export to Excel?

In this case, let's ensure the compatibility of the QuickBooks program and Microsoft Office by checking out this article: Microsoft Office 2010, 2013, 2016, and 365 FAQs.

If the version of your QuickBooks is compatible with your Excel app, then you'll need to update the software to the latest release. This will help install the recent features within the program.

Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. From the Help menu, choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. On the Update window, go to the Options tab and click on the Mark All button. Then, select Save.
  4. Go to the Update Now tab and put a check mark in the Reset Update box to erase all previous update downloads.
  5. Click on the Get Updates button.
  6. Then, restart QuickBooks.

When prompted, accept the option to install the new release.

If the error persists, I recommend repairing the Excel app and the software.

You can refer to these steps to repair QuickBooks:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Control Panel on your computer, click on Programs, and select Programs and Features.
  3. Choose Uninstall or change a program.
  4. Then, select QuickBooks and then click on Uninstall/Change.
  5. If prompted, just click on Continue and choose Next.
  6. Click on Finish and restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Please let me know how it goes by leaving a comment below. I'll be here to keep helping. Wishing you a good one.

Re: export reports to excel

I was exporting Account Listing and Statement of Cash Flows. I'm an accounting student and this is for my computerized accounting class. I considered uninstalling QuickBooks and reinstalling but was afraid it may not reinstall with my products and license number. I checked for updates under the help tab and there were a couple of errors.

Protocol Handler Error 15227

Service Messages Error 404

Move QuickBooks Error 15227

Everything is else is up to date.

Re: export reports to excel

Hey there, @ncotton1,

Thanks for letting us know the outcome when trying the steps above.

Since the steps did not work for you, I recommend uninstalling the software and running a clean installation. This allows QuickBooks to create a new folder to replace broken installation files.

Before doing so, always back up your company file to avoid accidental data loss. Here's how to do a clean install:

  1. Download the QuickBooks_Clean_Install_Tool.exe file.
  2. Save the file on your desktop.
  3. Open the QuickBooks_Clean_Install_Utility.exe.
  4. Mark the I Accept tick box on the license agreement.
  5. Select the version of your QuickBooks Desktop.
  6. Click on Continue.
  7. Hit OK when you see the prompt: "QuickBooks is now ready for a clean install, please install to the default directory."

You can also use the Super Clean Install tool as additional troubleshooting. Please refer to this link: Reinstall using a Super Clean install.

If none of these works, I'd suggest contacting our Technical Support Team. They have the tools to review the logs files of your QuickBooks program and provide the steps to resolve the hitch.

Follow these steps to get our contact information:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Tap the Contact us button.

Please let me know how the troubleshooting steps goes. I'll be on a lookout for your response on this.
