Export to excel - leading zeros

I'm using QuickBooks Desktop for Mac and trying to export a report (for example "sales by customer detail") to excel. The behavior i'm seeing is that if a particular field has a number in it with leading zeros (for example "012345" to "00324234") that field becomes a "number" in excel and the leading zeros are deleted, making the field value be "12345" and "324234". Changing the cell formatting in excel doesn't help.

Has anyone else ran into the same issue and has a solution?

Thanks

Export to excel - leading zeros

Hi there, @drcoder.

QuickBooks Desktop for Mac will eliminate the leading zeroes on the transaction numbers when exporting reports to Excel. These figures will show up if you export the report from QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.

To include the zeroes on the spreadsheet, you'll need to enter them manually.
