Exporting Company from QB Desktop to QBO and Still Use Desktop

Hi,

I signed up for a free trial to QBO and I'd like to export my company's QB Desktop file to see how to works and run some tests.

Can we still use QB Desktop version after we export to QBO and go back to using the desktop version if we decide we don't want to convert to QBO?

How does importing to QBO effect the desktop version?

Yes you can do that. QB Desktop and QB Online are two different platforms. Make sure:

1. Migrating your company file from any supporting QB Desktop version (i.e 2018-2021). Utilize the trial license if required.

2. Purchasing a new blank QBO account with the current discounted price once you decided to use it. You have to pay the regular rate if you purchase it from the trial account.

This is a clever way to check how things work, BeamLighting!

Converting your file from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online won't hurt your desktop file. It's just like exporting a backup copy online. However, please note that due to the differences between the two platforms, there are some limitations.

Check out the article about exporting your file. It has a video as well.
