Getting error code: -81624 when trying to update credit card payment information for subscription. What is wrong?

Let me help you fix this error to update your credit card information, @jmacpack.

There are a few things that could be causing this error. One of them is that if the company address is not complete on the QuickBooks Online Company tab in the settings. We can check out this by following these steps below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Account and Settings.
  3. Click the Address section on the Company tab to edit it.
  4. Check the Company address details and update them if necessary.
  5. Click Save.

If your Company details are correct, then we can also check your card's provider side. I recommend giving them a call to see if there's an error on their end.

If the error persists, I suggest reaching out to our phone support so they directly review your account. This way, we can check where the issue might be started.

Here's how:

  1. Click Help (?) at the top right.
  2. Select Contact Us to connect with a live support agent.
  3. Enter "Error code -81624" in the description. Then, click Let's talk.
  4. Choose either Start messaging or Get a callback.

To ensure we address your concern on time, check out our support hours.

I'm always around if you need further assistance. Have a good one.

I'm here to ensure that you'll be able to update your payment information, Felix 1962.

The error code 81624 usually occurs due to a failed payment authorization. The possible reason for this is an invalid address or the details entered didn't match with the financial institution. Make sure everything is correct.

If everything is correct and the error persists, I suggest logging into your QuickBooks Online account via an incognito window. The browser's cache may be full, and using a private browser can help us determine if this is the cause of the issue.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + P

Once signed in, update your credit card info. If you're able to do it, let's clear the cache of your main browser. This helps remove its stored cache so it'll improve the program's performance.

Though, if private browsing doesn't work, I recommend using different browsers. They'll provide the best and most secure experience with QuickBooks. For more details, you can check out this article: System Requirements For QuickBooks Online.

To learn more about changing your payment details, you can check out this article: Update Payment Information For Your Subscription.
