Getting the signature image to print on the signature line.

I have added a signature image according to QuickBooks instructions. The signature prints way above the signature line. How can I align just the signature to print on the signature line?

Getting the signature image to print on the signature line.

Thanks for coming to the Community for help, @sthames111.

I'm here to share some information about adding an electronic signature and use it for checks in QuickBooks Desktop.

In order for the signature to print correctly, make sure the image has an 11:3 aspect ratio (11 width and 3 height) to fit into a 2-3/4 inch wide by 3/4 inch tall area with no space around it. Once you've followed the proper aspect ratio, the system should place it above the signature line.

For more information, please refer to this article: Create and use an electronic signature for checks and paychecks.

This information should get you back in line. Please touch base with me here if you have any questions, I'll be more than happy to answer them for you. Thanks for dropping by and have a good day!

Getting the signature image to print on the signature line.

I have to admit that I'm a bit confused about the 11:3 ratio to fit in a 2-3/4" wide by 3/4" tall. Would it be possible to explain how to get this done?

Getting the signature image to print on the signature line.

Hi there, @sthames111.

Thank you for posting in the Community. I'd be glad to help share some information about using an electronic signature in QuickBooks Desktop.

To make the signature image fit into the signature field, the ratio has to be well-defined. In QuickBooks Desktop, the image should have an 11:3 aspect ratio (11- inch width and 3-inch height) to fit into a 2-3/4 inch wide by 3/4 inch tall space.

To do that, look for the option in your scanner's settings to change the aspect ratio to 2.75 x .75, or to select only the part of the page to scan. It will come up as a little box that you can move and resize the signature block.

After that save the image in an accepted file format, such as JPEG, PNG, BMP or TIFF. Save it to an easily accessible location, such as the desktop.

For additional help, feel free to reach out to our Customer Care support. They can use the screen sharing tool to walk you through the steps and get this resolved quickly.

Here's how you can reach them:

  1. Go to: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. At the top right, select your product.
  3. Select your QuickBooks version.
  4. Select a topic.
  5. Click on the Get Phone Number button.

That should point you in the right direction today.

Keep me posted how it goes. I'll be happy to help you further in adding an electronic signature for checks and paychecks in QuickBooks. Wishing you and your business success.

Getting the signature image to print on the signature line.

Hi MaryGraceS,

Thanks again for your help. The reason I'm wanting to do this is to have the signature to print on checks/paychecks. I noticed the last sentence in your comment noted checks/paychecks. That is how I got started in this & I was going by the QuickBooks instructions. Is there something different I need to do for checks/paychecks? By the way I am NOT using QuickBooks checks, I'm using checks purchased from a company specializing in checks. The checks I buy are computer checks specifically for QuickBooks & they are voucher checks.

Thanks,

sthames111

Hi I'm using Quickbooks for mac and the signature prints below the signature line. Is there a way to adjust it. I'm using the correct ratio.

Getting the signature image to print on the signature line.

Greetings, @rstahl.

Let's try saving your transaction as a PDF to isolate the issue.

When you print the transaction with the signature, you'll need to save it as a PDF file before printing. You need to perform this process for us to know if it's a problem with QuickBooks or your printer set up.

Once you've saved the PDF, open it again and print it from there.

If you're able to print it with the signature perfectly positioned on the signature line, you can print it from there moving forward.

But if the problem still persists, it could be a problem with your printer set up. I suggest you consult with an IT professional to check the settings on your printer.

Please let me know how this goes, and if you also have other concerns, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'll be here to help you.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I am using a Macbook and a Pc. The pc works just fine. With the mac however, I tried all what you suggested. I tried different printers. The numbers, dates and name are all aligned properly. The signature is still below the line. It does seem like a hidden setting or something...

I need help with the signature is very faint.  It is printing about 1/2" above the signature line, but it is hardly legible;  Is there a way to bold the signature.  So it is visible on the check?

Getting the signature image to print on the signature line.

Hello there, @DHildebrand.

At this time, customizing the signature line is unavailable in QuickBooks.

As a workaround, in order for the signature to print correctly, make sure the image has an 11:3 aspect ratio (11 widths and 3 height) to fit into a 2-3/4 inch wide by 3/4 inch tall area with no space around it. Once you've followed the proper aspect ratio, the system should place it above the signature line.

I followed the instructions but at 2.75 x .75 the signature is way too big. When I use Adobe to make the image size smaller, it still prints the large size. Any ideas on how to get it to print smaller?

Good to see you on this thread, @sb120.

You can try to check and reset your printer setting. Let me guide you through the steps:

  1. From the Start button, select Settings (or Control Panel) > Printers and Faxes.
  2. Right-click on a working printer.
  3. Select Set as Default Printer.
  4. Open QuickBooks and open the Printer Setup window to verify the changes.

Then follow the steps above to set up. If it still prints large size, I recommend contacting our Technical Support team to assist you further. They have more tools that can fix this printing issue.

Here’s how:

  1. Simply press F1.
  2. Select Contact us at the bottom part.
    dt-support.PNG
  3. In the box/field, enter your concern.
  4. Click Start a Message or choose phone support.

I added a link you can use in the future to get more information about organizing accounts in QuickBooks: Help articles.

Getting the signature image to print on the signature line.

The printer settings are fine. Everything prints correctly except the signature. Possibly I did not explain correctly: I created a JPG which is 2.75 x .75. However, that is much too large. So I created a file which is about half that size but it is still printing at the 2.75 x .75 size. Is it not possible to create a signature file which prints at the size I want?

Getting the signature image to print on the signature line.

Thanks for your prompt response, @sb120.

You followed the right thing that is 2.75 x .75. When you resize the file format, it won't affect the standard size. You can also resize the actual signature manually with the same frameset size of 2.75 x .75 and different signature size.

See it through the picture below from big to a smaller signature. It has the same frame size with different signature size.

Use the smaller signature.

You can also create a signature with a PNG file format, that is much clearer than JPG.

Hello,

I would actually like to get the digital signature to float above the line.  Our checks require 2 signatures and by floating the signature above the line, it will allow me to sign the checks.  Can you help?
