Goofy errors importing Items from Excel

I am running QB 2019 on a Mac. Single user version. I am trying to import inventory items from excel and I am getting errors on the Price and Cost fields if they are over 999.99. If I reduce the numbers below 1000 they import fine and then I have to change the values individually which defeats the purpose of importing. I have tried adding a comma in the thousands postition. I have tried adding a dollar sign; nothing logical works! Is this a bug? Seems pretty idiotic for an accounting package not to accept numbers over $999.99! What am I doing wrong? Thank you!!! P.S. I am choosing File->Import->Items and then simply copying the columns from the spreadsheet into the grid supplied by QB. I have tried formatting the numbers as Currency, as text fields and as numbers with 2 decimal places and I get the same error.

We want to ensure this will be fixed, MLeeber.

 

I've checked our records and haven't seen any open cases similar to yours. You should be able to import the items without any issues.

 

I suggest reaching out to our customer care support so an agent can take a better look at it. They have more tools, like screen sharing, that can help you with identifying the root cause of the issue. Here's how:

  1. Open the link.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, then click Continue.
  3. On the Contact Us page, select a topic.
  4. Click Start a Message.

Once it's fixed, you can import the items again.

WHAT COMPLETE BS!!!! I have now been on support chat for over an hour and I keep loosing the agent I am connected to. Apparently intuit is not vetting their emplyees' ability to access the internet!!!! Another company using COVID to provide substandard service!!!!!!

WHAT COMPLETE BS!!!! I have now been on support chat for over an hour and I keep loosing the agent I am connected to (not on my end). And each timne I have to start the explanation over!!! Apparently intuit is not vetting their emplyees' ability to access the internet!!!! Another company using COVID to provide substandard service!!!!!!
