The GPS settings for TSheets can definitely be confusing sometimes, so let me first explain how it affects the app. Within your TSheets account, if you have the Location set to required, that means that the employees need to allow the TSheets app access to their location "always" and not just while the app is running or open. The reason for this is, without that setting on "always", the GPS would only function if the app is open on the screen, the user is clocked in and the app is not minimized to the background. As soon as the employee toggles away from the app, or goes to a different application, the GPS would not work anymore. With that being said, TSheets is set up to track employees only while they are clocked into the app, and stop tracking once they clock out. It is worth mentioning that TSheets will not track the employee while they are clocked into breaks.
The TSheets app was built to use as little battery as possible since it typically runs at least 8 hours, so it is best to have the employees check how much it is actually using. If it is more than expected, they can definitely send in a mobile report from their TSheets app.
While logged into the app, touch More along the bottom
Then Settings and Help & Support
Lastly choose Report a Problem
The great thing about this is that the report goes straight to our Support Team so they can take a look at the logs. Please encourage your employees to screenshot the battery amount TSheets is using in their settings and attach to this report.
I know other customers like yourself have mentioned limiting the amount of GPS points pulled, so we would love for you to submit this idea in your TSheets account.
Log in to your TSheets account
In the upper right hand corner, click on the question mark symbol
Then select Suggest Idea
Log into the TSheets App
Touch More along the bottom right
Then select Settings followed by Help & Support
Select Suggest an idea
Please explain your request to have TSheets only pull GPS location when the employee clocks in and once they clock out. Any additional information about how this would help your company or employees is appreciated.

Does anyone know why three of our employees dont have their GPS tracking on their phones when our company settings require it to be on when they are clocked in?? I wanted to check with you before addressing with the employee? Thoughts?
