Join nowAbout 3 week ago I tried to migrate quick books 2020 premier edition from my old computer to a new computer
that is when the problem started after migrating it ask for an activation code, I contacted quick book support was told that they couldn't generate the code because the licence # was registered to some one else
I tried to explain that I purchased in July 2020 and been using ever since with out any problem, I was aske to fill out fill out a form and show a picture ID to prove who I was, again it came back as not the owner of the licence the only thing I could think of that possible my account was hacked since they can disclose the information the burden of proof is left on me.
If any has any ideas or suggestion feel free to share. my old computer is on it's last legs
once it dies there is no other option other than quick books online, which I am not found of I have a small business and don't need online services or a monthly recurring charges.

You can transfer your QuickBooks Desktop by using our Migrator Tool. All you need is an internet connection and a USB flash drive with enough storage to hold your QuickBooks files. With the use of the USB flash drive, it'll be easier to migrate to the new computer.

Also, I still recommend contacting our Support Team. Your details must be updated and only our Support Team has the tools to better assist you with it.

the problem is not migrating and and installing, I fully understand the process
at the end of the install it asks for and activation code to register the software, speaking with tech support the code can only be generated to the registered user, my licence is no longer registered to my business
there fore the code can't be generated, as long as my old computer hold out there will be no problem

I don't use my online account so I never detected the problem till now.
the solution to the problem should simple to generate a code for the licence however with the guideline quick books has in place it becomes very difficult, and since they have move to yearly subscription even more so.
To answer your question I spend more than few hours with different techs and submitted multiple copies of documentation only to receive the same response
the reply is always, there is no account registered to that licence with that business name .request can't be approved.
I am a small business owner and the reason I chose quick book, because if the one time fee to purchase the
licence I dint expect that they would move to yearly subscription. I will keep using quick books desktop as long as my computer hold out. Until I find an alternate solution

When your son installed the license for the first time, he had to register it and you would find it on your CAMPS. You have to able to login to your CAMPS as the Primary Admin and find your license information in there. Support won't recognize your claim unless you are the Primary Admin.

just as I thought, after following the camps link, I found that my licence is tied to a different email than me or my sons email, when I tried to transfer, the code goes to the email of the licence is tied to li****[email address removed]
don't know who this is and how they got a hold of my licence
what other option do I have? to claim my licence?

Since the license is tied to a different email, I suggest changing your primary email address. This way, you can log in to CAMPs and claim your license from there.

It is highly possible you were purchasing a pre-registered license. Contact your seller and ask them to transfer the Primary Admin of the CAMPS. If they refused, you don't have any option but purchasing a new license. You can still purchase a new one time license of QBD 2021.
