I'm here to help you connect with our phone support to fix your concern with QuickBooks, @lluedeker.
Before we proceed, may I know where exactly did you get the problem? Is it within the General Ledger report or a transaction window?
Additionally, providing a screenshot would greatly aid us in pinpointing and resolving the issue. Any additional information you can provide would be appreciated.
In the meantime, let's perform some troubleshooting steps. We can begin by accessing your account in a private window. This will help us determine if the problem stems from cache accumulation.
You can utilize the following shortcut keys to access incognito mode:
If it works, go back to your default browser and clear its cache. This step will refresh the system, enabling you to work with a clean slate. Alternatively, accessing other compatible browsers may help resolve the issue.
If the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Team. They can securely review your account and offer further assistance in resolving the issue.
Additionally, the account history provides a comprehensive list of past and current transactions associated with your account. If you need to edit or locate a transaction, refer to this resource: Find, review, and edit transactions in the account history in QBO.
Should you have any further questions regarding managing reports or transactions in QuickBooks, feel free to ask in this thread. We're here to assist you. Take care.
Thanks for your help. It did it again yesterday to another transaction. The audit log as all these "indirect edit by system" then it shows my login at 3:30pm when I was not on my computer at all - I was on the lake.
Same thing happened last week when I called, I told them I was asleep when this edit happened the first time. They asked if anyone had my login, they do not. Nothing is wrong in my books except for this vendor and these transactions that keep collapsing into one line item after they are all split. One attachment shoes the collapsed one with audit history and it all sums into the first line item. This messes up my general ledger expense accounts and makes them inaccurate.. [Removed]
It will only let me upload one attachment, I'll reply once more with the other shot.
The other screen shot shows a normal bill, same vendor. I've done it this way for years and until the last week, I haven't had this problem. I really believe it's a glitch of some sort on the back end and not sure what to do b/c it's taking hours to repost multiple statements and then it does this again. If possible to set up a call, I'm happy to pay for services b/c I had no luck for 4 hours on support last week. Thanks!
Good morning, I just responded, but not sure it went through. This is the audit history that shows I made a change yesterday at 3:30pm. I was on a boat in the lake, no where near a computer, so it's not possible. No one else has my login, either. This is the only vendor that this is happening to and it's collapsing all the splits into the first line item. I'll send another reply with what it should look like on a previous month. I've posted bills like this to this vendor for years and never had this problem until the last two weeks. QB support last week didn't help. I spent 4 hours back and forth and then they said it was basically my fault for deleting a line. This has no line deletions and still did it. I think it's something on the back end and just need someone to help. Happy to hire, whatever it takes. Thanks! [Removed]
Will send another message with the second screenshot.
HI! I keep trying to send the screenshot, and it's not posting my messages.
One attachment, trying to see if this will post.

The Indirect edit in your Audit Log's Transaction History page isn't a glitch, lluedeker. I can elaborate on the reason behind it while providing other instructions to figure out the changes that happened.
I appreciate the screenshots shared to get me on the same page. The Community page is a public forum so we removed them to protect your data.
QuickBooks records indirect edits when a transaction that was already on your books is changed. For example, someone modified a completed reconciliation. Since you updated or posted a payment associated with the split transaction, an Indirect edit by System shows.
If you set up other events to happen automatically even when you’re not signed in, it can be the reason why the changes happen while you're sleeping and on a boat in the lake. However, you can visit this website if you still don't recognize the user: Identify suspicious activity, phishing scams, and potential fraud.
Moreover, I understand that you already communicated with our support last week. Please know that you can reach out to our experts again for further investigation. Rest assured that they're willing to assist you securely. I'll show you how:

You can always go back here if you have additional questions about your general ledger. I'm always right here to ensure everything is taken care of. Stay safe.
Good morning, I'll contact support again. It still is not making any sense why line items would collapse into one total. Thanks.
