Hi Everyone! The Budgeting Tool link under settings loads a 404 Page Not Found error. Anyone know of a work around?

I've checked our records and haven't seen any open cases the same as yours, Jt-liveatfive-tv. Let's resolve the error message.

You may be experiencing some browser hiccups. We'll perform some basic troubleshooting to fix it. Let's start with logging into your account through a private browser. It's the best spot to isolate web issues.

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If you can create a budget successfully using the private browsing session, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache to refresh the program. We advise our users to delete them now and then to prevent and fix issues like this.

Moreover, you can use a different browser to narrow down the issue.

I'll add this article to help you with your budgets: Create and import budgets into QuickBooks Online.

Reach out to us again if you need more of our help. We'll respond as soon as we can. Take care!

Hi Everyone! The Budgeting Tool link under settings loads a 404 Page Not Found error. Anyone know of a work around?

Hello there, @Rena8731

Welcome to the Community. Let me help you get past the error 404 in QuickBooks Online.

When a browser stored a lot of caches, it could cause problems like pulling up the data to your account or latency issues. As an initial step, you can press the F5 key on your keyboard to refresh the page.

If you're still getting the same error, we can do some of the basic troubleshooting steps as my colleague Kristine Mae mentioned above. You can use these shortcut keys to log into your account using a private browser.

Let me guide you through the steps.

  • Press CTRL+SHIFT+for Chrome.
  • Hold CTRL+SHIFT+for IE and Mozilla Firefox.

Once signed in, go back and access the budgeting section from there. However, if you are not able to see it on your end, I'd recommend you clear your browser's cache.

Follow the steps to clear cache for your browser:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, select More.
  3. Click More tools  Clear browsing data.
  4. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
  5. Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
  6. Click Clear data.

To remove the browser's history or you can press CTRL+Shift and Delete key on your keyboard altogether. You may also try accessing your account using another supported browser.

Most of the time, you only need to clear your browser's cache. But if you keep having the same problem even after doing that, you can clear Intuit-specific cookies. This helps refresh website preferences that might be causing problems when you use QuickBooks.

To know more about the budget feature in QuickBooks Online, you can scan through this article: Create and import budgets into QuickBooks Online. This will provide you steps on how to run the Budget Overview report as well as the steps to edit, copy and delete a budget.

Additionally, I recommend customizing the report to get the specific details you need. You can also memorize it to save its current customization settings. It serves as your record and helps you quickly access it for future use.

You can visit us again if you have questions about other errors related to QuickBooks. I'll be here to help however I can.

Hi Everyone! The Budgeting Tool link under settings loads a 404 Page Not Found error. Anyone know of a work around?

I have had the same issue as many people. I receive the 404 page not found error when navigating to the budgeting link. I have had this issue for weeks now. I signed up for QuickBooks online in July and the budgeting feature has never worked for me. I have followed all the troubleshooting suggestions regarding clearing the cache and running the browser in private mode. I have spoken with Intuit twice about this issue. The second time I was on the phone for over an hour and the issue was not resolved. The patient representative said this issue affects multiple users and the problem is on Intuit's side, not the user's side. As a former software developer, whenever you receive a 404 page not found error after clicking what should be a valid link, that problem is on the side on the program, not the user. There may be a work-around (in this case, clearing the cache), but it is still a coding error. I'm sure this issue has been escalated to the development team. Can we get an ETA as to when this issue will be resolved, as I was told I will be emailed status updates, and I have not received any emails. Thank you

Hey, @sab3rry

Thanks for joining in on this thread. Allow me to point you in the right direction to get this resolved.

Since clearing the cache isn't helping, I suggest contacting our Customer Support Team so they can further assist you. They have advanced tools to look deeper into your account to see what's causing this to occur. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help (Question mark) icon.
  2. Hit Contact Us button.
  3. Give me a brief description and tap Let's talk
  4. Scroll down and choose to Get a callback

That's all there is to it!

Please inform me on how it goes. It's my priority that you're able to have access to this. I'm only a post away if you need be. Have a wonderful Monday!

Thank you for your prompt response, however, I have already spoken with a representative about this issue and it is still not resolved. From what I have read from other users, this isn't an isolated incident, rather, this is currently a problem affecting multiple users.
